Those pics make me feel even more crowded in even in my relatively rural community...

Oh well... couple more years and I will be able to take all my ill gotten gains and hide out in the sticks and pretend I am a free man.   well... free may be too strong a term but if I can either pee or shoot off my back porch (preferably both at once) then I will feel free...

It's not like this was right outside the door. I had to drive 45 minutes to get there. :)

Only way the could be better IMHO is if there was a sprinkling of snow.  Something about snow in the desert.  Really nice pics Sandy.

Great pics. Did you shoot them in RAW mode? How much post processing, if any, did you do?

There are 10 minutes of good light each day, 5 in the morning, and 5 in the evening, according to some famous photographer for National Geographic...looks like you timed it just right! :aok

Thanks Diablo. Snow would have been nice. It would have been warmer.

...but you're right. Snow covered desert is beautiful.

Thanks Rip. I shot them in JPEG. I tried a bit in raw, but I can't really see the difference so I stopped. This was even after a guy I work with (who I consider to be insanely talented) said as much.

Only one image was post-processed, this one:

This is an HDR image. The rest were simply cropped.

As for 10 minutes of good light... I dunno. I started shooting fifteen minutes before sunrise and stopped about fifteen minutes after. I shot the railroad crossing last, about 30 mins after sunrise.

Of course, I'm a gross amateur. What do I know.

Message from Nuke follows:

Sandy, he wanted you to know:

"That he is a good photographer, but he may have the wrong idea regarding taking digital photographs in the RAW format.

RAW allows the camera's actual image settings to be manipulated post processing"

Message ends.
