Formula One is best described as a race to see who can spend the absolute most money, automate the most number of processes in the car, and kill or maim the most drivers.

The average Top Fuel dragster or AA/Fuel Coupe engine makes 17.4HP per cubic inch, as a rule they are the fastest accelerating vehicle in the world, nothing wheel driven even comes close.

F1 is a joke. They are hyperautomated machines with tiny prettyboy drivers. Take a driver out of F1 and put him in NASCAR, he finishes in the 30's. Do they even have 30 F1 teams?

F1 can't run the sustained high speed tracks that NASCAR does, that's why they have short straightaways and 6 speed gearboxes. NASCAR can run twistytracks, but the tracks are so narrow that side by side racing is almost non-existant.

The race I want to see is NASCAR "rally" style. Nevada or Arizona would be perfect for that race.

Wow,lotsa oppinions here.
Would like to point out that F1 use 7 speed trannies these days,as for high speeds, well there has to be some compermizes. They could set the car up for high speed but it wouldn't turn as good,in tests F1 cars have topped 220mph,even 240 mph has been seen. F1 is the pinicle of auto technology.Engines turn over 20,000 rpm, that means the pistons stop and start 40,000 times a minute. The tires are cutting edge tech. aswell.

Why dont you see the top Nascar drivers in F1??? simple, they couldn't make the lineup. This is not to say they arent great at their sport,it's just totally different.
Many top NA open wheel drivers have tried F1,few have been successful,Little Al comes to mind...LOL.....

Is F1 as exciting as Nascar, probablly not. But look at the overall TV ratings, more PPL. tune into F1 races,in fact more see a single race than all nascar races combined, for a single year......

But racing is racing,I love it all, never seen a bad race, even F1 at Indy 2 years ago was still good to me.

Not everyone will agree and thats ok,I'm sure Shewie wont lose any sleep over it,having a matrest suffed with a couple hundred million will let ya sleep real good......................... .........

F1 and IRL races barely generate any ratings in the US with the exception of the Indy 500. Is NASCAR even telecast outside the US?

I'd like to see proof of that.

I believe NASCAR is the #1 spectator sport here , with 30 plus races over the year. Prolly 100 to 200k at a race. MILLIONS of viewers each week.

To say that F1 gets more viewers in 1 race than NASCAR gets all year? Well....I'd say prolly not.

I would agree that no many U.S. guys have done all that well in F1. I don't remeber them having the backing that the home grown Euros have tho from the get go. Could be wrong here.

Juan Pablo Montoya is giving a ride to NASCAR. Lets see how he fairs this year. I for one am looking forward to watching him. Even if my Favorite driver will be bumping him out of the way when putting him a lap down. :lol I still hope he does well. I enjoyed watching him in F1 and the old CART Series.

If he goes, Bud will follow, and effectively remove the largest money income share of DEI. Personally, I dont think he's going to be championship calibur untill either he leaves and joins a team that is, or the company is handed over to someone who can do something with it. Both financially, and in people allocation.

I like all forms of racing, but find F1 lacks passing and the TV coverage is brutal, no replays and its over at the first turn.

NASCAR is great racing, lots of lead changes, and after 500 miles it often comes down to winning by inches.

IRL/CHAMP need to get back together as they are losing out dividing up the fans.

The problem with DEI is not Jr., and it is not Theresa. The problem is Richie Gilmore, and Theresa's trepidation about either firing him or sending him back where he belongs, running the engine department. Steve Hmiel should have been given the job Richie Gilmore got. Gilmore is too arrogant and egotistical to even work with anyone else. He had a chance to work with RCR in a joint venture on engines, so they'd have the resources Yates and Roush have, and the idiot blew Richard Childress off. Now Childress has power and DEI is short 20 or more. And it has cost them a bunch of races. A bunch. Now the idiot can't go to RCR and make the deal. Sr. had already laid the groundwork for DEI and RCR to work together with the old RAD aero and chassis joint venture. Gilmore blew that off.

Gilmore got rid of Michael Waltrip, and thought he was keeping NAPA and all the associate sponsors. He thought he could brow beat Michael and treat him like a fool. Wrong answer, Michael left and took several million dollars worth of sponsorship money with him, and it even cost them money on the sponsorship deals they kept, because they don't get the air time any more. Jr. was seriously pissed at losing Michael, seriously pissed.

Gilmore was a great engine builder, and did a great job running the engine department, they had power. But he just plain sucks as a general manager, and now they're short of money, power, and talent. That's a shame, Sr. is surely turning 9000RPM in his grave over the stupidity that has wrecked DEI.
