If you aren't painting regularly .. . ie: workin in a body shop or some such ..
..do yer paint gun setup on somethin not important .. flat sheet of metal or an old fender layin around. Take your time an 'get it right' .. so it feels comfortable for your technique.
ie:
1) Puttin enough product down fast enough to not orange peel, and not too fast to sag or run at the speed/distance from target you are comfortable sweeping with,
2) Spray pattern filling from top to bottom, not thin/thick in the middle.
All of the above change by paint type and manufacturer. HOK recommends 8" or so distance to target for sprayin their stuff .. see where it works best for you

-GE (useda own an auto-body shop long ago .. way too much like work and the urethane's are hell-on-wheels for respiratory problems)
