Aces High?
« on: February 17, 2007, 08:45:50 AM »
Hello all,

I have been cruising your forums and site, I am reluctant however to download this game before I ask a few questions.

About how many active players play this game at any given time?

Is this just a Fighter Ace revamp?

Sry for the seemingly stupid questions, I just stumbled upon this game. It looks great. I have been playing FA since its inception on the Zone. Looking for the next greatest thing. The FA community has slowly dwindled down to nothing. MS Flight Sims are great, but there not MMO.

I have been BETA testing Storm of Aces for almost a year and while that looks promising, its a WW1 game and my heart belongs to the WW2 era of birds.

Again Thx much...

PEACE

The guys and gal at HTC have been at this pretty much since the inception of MMO Flight sims, infact Hitech Pyro Sudz and Natedog (if i for got anyone sorry) as were the developers for WB till they left.

The community here is good.

The special events rock.

I started two years ago and have not looked back.

To answer your questions

About how many active players play this game at any given time?
I am from Australia, during the day here I will see upwards of 700+ online and at night I wont see it get below 100

Is this just a Fighter Ace revamp?
Nope, They are similar but quite different, I have played FA and althought I like some aspects of FA, AH IMO is better.

See ya in the sky's

EDIT: I just had to add Nate to the list.....

In the late war arenas, you usually find around or over 400 players in a single arena at a time. Or if you like smaller numbers, go to the early or mid war arena where theres maybe only 40 players on in the evenings.

This game is a LOT better the FA. Better gameply, graphics, and no screetching 12 year old kids crying about everything.

FA is an arcade game compared to AH !!

AH has fighters, bombers, and ground vehicles from jeeps to tanks, and all are avalible at all times. You can find any kind of fight at most times of the day weather its on the ground or in the air. The download is free, so are the 8 player head to head rooms. Your first two weeks in the main and training arenas are free as well. After your 2 week free period is over the game will request a credit card, or other way to pay.

Download the game and give it a try! Check out the info at Aces High Training Corps You have nothing to loose.....other than ALLLLLLL of your free time ! :D

This is no FA,your money is spent here and not developing some arcade game like FA and storm of aces. I left FA about 2 years ago and dam glad I did. I left some good friends in FA but from what I hear it wont be long and they will be here in AH.

Yes this game takes some getting used to it is a little bit of a learning curve, but if you been in FA that long you shouldnt have any problems. AH is much more of a fair playing field. You can fly all plane sets with out switching sides.

A added note you will be surprised how many people you will already know in AH there are quit a few of us.

Dont be scared you wont be disappointed.

Download the game.
You get a free two week trial so:
Spend the first few days in the training arena getting your views setup, mapping your keyboard and stick, and becoming familiar with takeoffs, flying and landing. Someone will be there to help you.

Then head into one of the main arena's and get hooked.

One of the first things you'll want to do is customize your cockpit views, best in the genre. Usually your joystick will automatically default to the proper flight settings but you’ll probably want to customize the buttons for things like look up etc, it’s all in the help files.

If you're married go ahead and get a good attorney now
If you have a girlfriend or significant other give them the boot now
Stock up on munchies, beverages of your choice, stimulants to keep you awake around the clock, take a leave of absence from your job, and convert your desk chair to a port a potty.  This game is addictive :)

Okay in all seriousness it's a great game where 90% of the people are more than happy to help you improve so you're more of a challenge to fight.  Good luck :aok

To get the most out of your free 2weeks .
Please read as much as you can. So you don't waste time with the basics.

Then fly off line for a good bit to get a feel for the flight model.

Downloading and jumping into the MA is a quick trip to frustration ville.

Hi,

I played FA 2000-05.  I decided to move here around 2 years ago as I predicted FA was going downhill fast.  All the decent sticks had left and the skill level dropped to an all time low.  Along with the player numbers.

Many people came and tried AH2 with me, some liked it some didnt.

Those that managed to stay quickly learn't that this game holds so much more immersion than FA ever did and is much more satisfying.  It's those first few months of accepting that you will get your arse handed to you and be ready to start from scratch that are the hardest.

_Bruv_ , _Playmate_ formerly of the Damned are here.  Allusive of 1.5 also.

The HG squad I also encouraged to stick it out and are doing well Ceech, KC, 3Lips etc.

What was your nick in FA?

As for a FA revamp????  hardly this game is so much bigger and better in every respect except the graphics detail.  However if you get the game setup right you can make it look very nice.....

TC

I do not recall  any other Damned  that played FA after I stopped.........  unless someone upped and started another "Damned" squad......just saying........ FA 1.0, FA2, FA 3 ( was it  3.5 ? ) tryed out each version of FA as they came out, same with  all other WW2 sims

FlightSims -  gameid's/callsigns
AW   = TC  "TC", -TC-
WB  = TC ( very short time playing )
wwiionline  = TC
Targetware TargetKorea/Target Rabual = TC
FA = TC
AH = TC , DamnedTC, TequilaC  & a cple of others......

as I get older, my memory fails me.so some of them may have had wildcards attached if game didn't allow just 2 character/letter  names......

oops - left out IL2  forgotten battles & pacific fighters..........

TC.

The Damned and the damned air group in AH are 2 different things.  To my knowledge.

In FA they were pretty much the elite fighter squad from 2.5 through to 3.5.  All KOTS events dominated by them throughout the years.  Now non-existant except _Rilak_ (PTR_Rilak) who i did see briefly over the xmas period when my stick was so busted up i couldnt fly AH for 2 weeks.

If you want to read the ego inflated long winded history.

Some of the "facts" in one section didn't include some of my feats because we had a little falling out at the end  :(
