I have cleaned alot of services as recomended but I still have 50 processes running in the task manager. does someone have a general list of what is needed and what is not needed??? I know each software load is different but there has to be a bare minimum?????

Google it.

There's some very common threat assessment webpages out there. You can just put "csrss.exe" into the google box and hit ENTER, and the first 5 should have general info on the process.

You have to make up your own mind what you want and don't want. In the msconfig screen you can put the entry there ("GWHotkey" for example) and you should be able to get some info on it.

Generally in the msconfig screen you can see where it's located for a directory name, like if it has ...\Symantec\... in it, it usually relates to antivirus.

It's a bit of a detective game. Do some searching, check it with what software you know you have installed, and decide what you personally want to disable or leave enabled.

I'm down to about 24 processes when idling.

EDIT: Having said that, keep in mind some anti-virus software runs 10 processes at a time, so anywhere around 35 or so would be "decent".

programs like fsautostar, help u shut down processes for game play. they list the services onyour system and give you recommendations on what to do. it is what i use.

Here's a link to download FSAutoStart: Right click and save

As stated above, it will prompt you which services and programs can be stopped, then configure the AH.exe file as the application to run.

Click on the FSAutoStart shortcut on your desktop, not Aces High. FSAutoStart will stop the programs/services selected and start up AH automatically. When you close AH, the programs/service will restart.

Note: It does not work with Vista.

I don't like FS Autostart. I want my PC "fit and trim" all the time, not just when I'm flying AH.

I tune it for best overall performance, which means I use the system processes window and msconfig to shut things down.
