Game has whacked out on me

First time this has happened to me:

Click on Aces High icon, first screen pops up.  Mouse icon is really choppy/lagging behind actual mouse movement.  Log in, check into any arena, frame rates listed as 2 fps.  Can barely get the mouse over to "quit" b/c it's so dang choppy.

Offline same thing.

Uninstalled, deleted/renamed all folders, reinstalled.

No joy.

No computer settings have been changed, no recent XP downloads or updates, just seems to be sucking out of the blue.

Any help would be appreciated.

I might also add, that now when I try to start up the game, it turns my desktop background a funky blue-green and goes through all the plane cache generation crap again.
