Revival of the "hurtme" command
« on: February 26, 2007, 09:56:14 PM »
Yeah, it sounds kinky, but it's actually not what you think.

Back in, I believe, WarBirds, there was a dot command that you could enter ".hurtme #" in an offline game to destroy the part that the number corresponded to.

I'm not sure if there's a number association in the damage model any more, but this command would be useful not only to be a retard offline and have fun in gimpy planes, but to also train one-winged landings and perhaps give the opportunity to take a snapshot of graphical bugs that come out with damage (IE the wing busts off and there's a gunport visible). It's not in the front of my mind to screenshot that as I'm spiraling to my doom. ;)

For training purposes I'd say no. You can't train for that, it has to come with your skill level.

For screenshot purposes, roll film and capture it all. Or, allow the command on the ground only.
Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I dont see problems with damaging your plane for training purposes in offline. Would be good to have this feature imho.

i dont know, sounds alright to me, if only offline,  not super critical or anything but would be kinda neat .

Green Soo Bahk Do belt.

That's why it's an offline command, Denholm. An arena setting could be used to enable/disable it.

also ur forgetting most of the n00bs out there dont kno most of the "." commands, and what would hurting ur own pilot do any good in not giving a kill?  the pilot doesnt die instantly, and if u shoot em u get the kill, so what does it matter if they complain? theres always .squelch  to stop that :D :aok

Actually, when you just suddenly die, that's because your pilot has taken a fatal hit. The plane doesn't continue on due to the massive server use that would occur; you HO a B-17 and kill its pilot at 30k when he's trimmed in and the server has to track him until he runs out of gas or the arena resets.

But that's off the general topic.

this is a brilliant idea, I like it. Has great training/screwing around potential!!

You know your a dweeb when you love flight sims so much, you believe you can do it better and go start your own flight sim company.
