I bought a new PC last year and have been using "onboard sound".  

I have an Audigy Gamer (first gen) and would like to use the Firewire connection on it.   As well as free up some CPU cycles.

I have tried installing the drivers (card was seated properly), but the Setup program will not "recognize" the card.   Can anyone help me out here?   Am I doing something wrong?

Go to http://www.creativelabs.com. Wait for it to load. Hover mouse over "Support" for a moment, then click the menu listed as "Software AutoUpdate".

This has been the only way to get my Audigy installed for the past..oh, 2-3 years now. I got it second hand with no install disc.

I ran the setup for my Audigy Card and had to install the card first.  Went to control panel and looked for any yellow marks next to any equipment.  Then I install it using the drivers found on the CD in the drivers folder.  I choose the first ini file and next thing you know,  a WDM was installed.  I then ran the setup program and everything installed fine.

Masherbrum, did you try to install the drivers from the CD?  The CD consistently fails to detect my Audigy2.  The drivers from the Creative site install flawlessly.  Once the driver is installed you can install all of the support software (mixer, media player, etc.) individually from the CD.

Did you "disable" the onboard sound in bios first? Then uninstall the drivers?
