Yeah its a little different but I like the way the 6.8 round shoots. It is very similar to a .270 round and has a great trajectory.

Barret makes a fine weapon.  Strikes fear into the hearts of liberals and Californians everywhere.  :D

I saw that on Futureweapons last night.  Is the US military going to start using it anytime soon?

Dunno.  I've heard so many different things about the different weapons the US is going to change to that I am unsure as to what's true, what's been canned, and what was just a rumor to begin with.

I personally will make an M82a1 one of my first purchases when I win the lottery.  I just love that feeling of being able to reach out and touch someone.

The only solution to the gun ban crisis is to buy more guns, just in case.  Because if you wait until you actually NEED one, it's far too late.  Just ask any of the genocide victims throughout history how that whole unarmed pacifist thing worked out when the uniformed govt employees who were "only doing their jobs" knocked on the door.

Almost forgot to add...  Shooting Times recently reviewed a 6.5 Grendel chambered AR mod...  Very nice weapon.  Pricy as hell... I remember 10 years ago thinking $700 was an awful lot for a new AR, but now you're lucky to get just the lower for $1000.  A good AR variant will, just like the barret in that link, cost over $2000.  Damn gun control freaks...  They simply shouldn't cost that much, and the gun control efforts are just making them more popular.

I think I'd like one of the improved calibre AR variants.  The 6.5mm grendel isn't terribly impressive except for the fact that it's about the most performance you can get from the AR-15 platform, and you can get pretty good accuracy and a 30 rd magazine in a reasonably durable and easily maintained rifle.  It makes this a nearly perfect "sport" hunting rifle, except for in a few locations that mandate limited-capacity magazines in hunting rifles.

Silly me, I spent $350 for a mini-14 when it would have been a much better investment to buy a high quality pre-ban AR for $800.  The mini is still worth about $350 and shoots like crap, but the AR would be a tack-driver out to 300 yds and would be worth $1,500 by now.

but the mini 14 is still legal in every state I can think of and... for another $500 you can get it rebarreled with a premium barrel and it will give you sub 1" groups at 100 yards too..  Not the best solution but a workable one.

I think the best thing anyone who believes in the second amendment can do is buy a gun or.. buy another one and... join the NRA.. if you don't belong to the NRA then you really are not helping.

The fact that about half of American adults are armed (legally) and the fact that the NRA has almost 5 million members is the only reason they haven't been able to pass UK/UN gun control laws here.

Don't forget to buy ammo, plenty of it!

I agree on joining the NRA, it is vital in todays political climate more so then ever to support the NRA and the battle they are waging on our behave to protect our second amendmant rights.

post-ban Calif. mini-14s have a 5-rd magazine welded into the receiver.  Total piece of crap.

A match grade heavy barrel AR will beat a rebuilt mini-14 any day.  I've shot both, and seen my brother hit a running jackrabbit at 25 yds with his AR.  It's simply a better rifle.  Yea the mini will keep firing after being abused where the AR will start to jam, but a decent AR will still be more accurate and easier to field-maintain than the mini.

That's why I don't own an accurized AK variant... it's just not that good of a basic weapon.  Yea you can MAKE it more accurate, but the basic gun trades accuracy for reliability.  If I need ultimate reliability, I'll use my a-bolt and just reload more often.

I'll get flak for this but I have yet to join.   But, now that things have somewhat stabilized in the Family, I'm gonna talk to the wife about an "EPL Lifetime Membership".    40 payments of $25 is worth it to me.

Honestly?  No, I don't.  We always get GREAT deals to join the NRA while at gun shows, including free magazines, stickers, half off...

So we rejoin every year to a year and a half.

It might be cheaper in the long run, but the money's going to a good source anyway.

I've been a life member for over 30 years.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
