This weekend a lot of parades went on all over the country. No surprises here, but Colorado Springs had a bit of an extra.
We had a group that participated "to celebrate their Irish heritage" as their application to be a part of the parade states. Instead they chose that time to protest the war. The organiser of the event asked them to please leave after many people showed their disgust with the political message.
When they refused, the police were called in and they were arrested amongst many political slurs throw at police by the protestors, including one 67 year old woman's tirade that included obscenities and refusal to leave the spot. The ensuing arrest of her was that she fought hard enough to be dropped, and then subsequently dragged to the police wagon.
It seems to me that this was a planned and staged attempt to delude the parade organiser to be able to get out a political message. This mornings talk shows here in Colorado Springs have been full of mostly support for the arrests and disgust that these selfcentered protestors tried to ruin a day of celebration of Irish heritage (atleast most Americans see it that way).
What are your thoughts?
Mine, I am glad they were arrested, and think they should be also charged with conspiracy to cause a riot and endangerment of the public.
