Mossie is also out of the fighter hangar and the A-26 would be out of the bomber hangar.


A-26B does make a decent bomber destroyer.  The A-26A was designed for the job the P-61 eventually got.

A-26 out of the bomber hangar adds another plane to help the IL2's to defend fields when FH's go down possibly.  

'Vader with 500lb bombs internal and 5 inch rockets on wing would make life difficult for GVr's.

It'll be a hanger queen. Not nimble enough to be a fighter, and crap against ground targets due to being to slow to evade the ack. So what use does it have again?

I mean I like the idea, just dont see any use for it.

Well, thats the thing. The only way you'll get a fighter in front of it is if the fighter screws up. It will be out turned, out climbed, and out dived by  any airframe in the fighter set. This by no means any kind of dogfighter. Those who think it is would be sorely dissapointed. I can see it now, guys trying to dive with this thing , hitting 300 mph, and having the wings rip off. Its a niche aircraft at best that only saw limited use.

 If you want diversity, vote for the B25. Almost the same guns package (even better ground attack with the 75mm gun package), numerous bombloads including HE, parafrags, and skipbombs. And hundreds of skin possabilities since it serverd in virtually every theatre.

Martin B-26  entered war in 1942.

i believe we are already using this plane in this game!!!

it is most certainly NOT a Douglas A-26:huh

IIRC, the A-26 was the attack plane of choice in Air Warrior...over the Mossie.  It took more punishment.

If they bring this plane to AH, it would not work as a formation plane.  It's an attack plane that happens to have some buff-like capabilities.  Formations would be silly.

That said, I think I could level a town with one of these suckers in about 3 minutes. ;)

Actually, the A-26B and A-26C worked together for level bombing missions, then after ord was dropped, they would drop down to hunt and strafe whatever they could find.

It is a medium level bomber to replace the B-26 and B-25.
It's a superior attack plane to replace the A-20.
It was developed, but not tasked with, being a bomber destroyer (A-26A).

It would be possible to add this to the game as BOTH an attack plane AND a medium level penetration bomber.  Since it will be perked, you can choose whether or not to take drones.  Going hunting? Run solo.  Going off to drop dar and ord at several sites?  Take drones.  

All comes down to what's in the nose.... otherwise, the B and C were identical.

 i,m willing to bet it will handle fighters decently in a dog fight :D

In a dogfight it'd fare about as well as a 110 I'd guess.  In Air Warrior (only point of reference I've got) it was solid in A2A indeed, at least if it had an E advantage.  Funny thing is in AW its gun was a peashooter. Not sure what that was about.

I still don't like the idea of having this thing in formations...at least, not with the nose guns.  It's way too quick and maneuverable.  Yes it has a bombsite, but it's not a buff.  It's not a big slow pos with no hope like a buff.  For all intents and purposes, it's a 110 with a bombsite.  If it had formations, it would be nearly impossible to stop from killing CVs...which is already a problem with the big slow guys.
