"Squad affiliations" on squad screen
« on: April 05, 2007, 01:15:32 AM »
Add a box in the squad screen. Call it "affiliations". Put the name of another squad leader in there, and when people in squad A use .sr they see the names of pilots from both squads, and which arenas they are in.

71 Sqn has 2 units, Flight A and flight B. Both fly together, interchangably, but they can only see their own group with ".sr".

We also have friends in other squads we'd like to know about, to help choose which arena to join.

Totally agree Krusty.

332nd Flying Mongrels just had to split because of a recent influx of new players.
Seems I can never find anyone now.

An alternative would be a editable text list that it would automaticly do a .f gameid for as you waited in lobby.

So after a min it would go through the entire list and tell you who's online and who's not. If this was a simple text file so you could add "friends" and acquaintances, so much the better.

For sure we need something.

I like Ghosth's idea a bit better, because of its flexibility.

Bigger squads are a fact of life, and as long as there isn't the "migrating plague of locusts" effect they can be an absolute plus. (With players spread out among arenas, 32 players don't go as far as they used to!) Entirely aside from the saud issues, there are times I have an eye out for 6-10 non squad members -- friends I havent seen for a long time; unaffiliated players who are great in the plane I'm trying to learn; guys I've worked with in the TA and would like to fly with as "teaching wingman"; and guys who are just fun to fly around (like, say, Dan/Corky/Guppy35, or Silat, etc)

A text list of 10 people to ".find" , and a macro to run the list, would be a great addition.

And HT -- this is the exact opposite of the "permasquelch list" you consistantly oppose. Here we're talking about a list that BUILDS communication and relationships....and if you're opposed to the permasquelch, you ought to be all for this!
