What Just Happened?
« on: April 09, 2007, 09:43:49 PM »
My daughter has a wireless notebook with the new vista and yesterday we installed a bandwidth monitor on ALL computers in the house due to the fact that we are on satellite which watches our bandwidth usage closely..

Well, tonight the daughter was looking at the BW monitor and her jaw about dropped,it said she had downloaded 12GIGS...The BW monitor showed a STRAIGHT UP RED SPIKE to 4000MB...we are talking in like one second...

We thought,OK it is the monitor freaking out for some odd computer reason, but then we got into where it shows the packets sent, and it was well over 1 million recieved..

Is it possible that this is some kind of fluke in the operating system??

If this comes to pass, then I will not be able to get online for a while to say the least....

Is it even possible for a computer to pick up such huge info without actually downloading the info???

                                               Thanks,
                                                       Kevin

Aren't the packets measured in bytes? A million bytes isn't all that much, not even a Mb.
