All you Yogies listen up.  Those of you who are criticizing other posters for having the brass to kill their own meat, and yet are NOT vegetarians yourselves, are being hypocrites.

Take a good long look at those ducks (mainly mallards) and geese (mainly snows).  That is the condition of every animal after it has been slaughered by your surrogate killer (A butcher)  and before it has been plucked or skinned, eviscerated, cut up, packaged and placed in a cooler at your the local Piggly Wiggly.  How did you THINK it got there?  

The animals slaughtered for your culinary delight have NO chance of escape.  Animals of the wild are free and alert and in excellent physical condition.  Quite often they make you WORK for the kill.  The rewards of a successfull hunt are the satisfaction of instinctive, atavistic needs buried in the human psyche.  Our ancestors have hunted, and been hunted, for millions of years.  Hunting is one of nature's tools for keeping herds balanced and preventing overpopulation.

You people are attempting to graft modern, new-age gaia ethics onto an ancient system that has always used killing as one of its tools.  Nature is an AMORAL system, and no amount of human hand-wringing and angst is going to change that.  EVERY predator ENJOYS the kill.

Grow a pair, do your own killing.....or become a vegetarian.  You can't have it both ways.

I have no objection to you hunting.

It seems to me that you giving the birds to the homeless is just a pathetic excuse for you to go out and kill creatures for fun...because you like shooting. Why else would you take pictures of you so proudly standing next your prey?

Having photographs taken of you with a load of bird carcasses strapped around your neck with your chest puffed out like you're John bloody Wayne is just so sad...it unmans you.

What you do may be justified, but the way you portray it is just plain wrong.

the ammount of physical work that it takes

its not like we just walk out our back door one day and say i think ill kill that bird right there and take a pic..

i spent hours in the field looking for birds "scouting" putting out decoys learning how to call the birds in.

when you work 40 hours a week and buy a house are your happy you got a house that you worked for?????

same for this i put my time in planting, scouting, learning, equipment and hunting time im happy when i get home and have the game i was after
for me to eat or somebody else to eat

i eat all the ducks i shoot
and i eat alot of the geese i shoot
and i give alot of geese away to homeless shelters.

i gave away some 1300 geese this year to homeless shelters
at 5 to 7 lbs per bird

that is 6,500 lbs of food for somebody that had nothing
