I flew one hop, I think it was in NDIsles.
It is a LITTLE dark. Not terrible, but a little dark, I agree. Of course, I often keep my gamma turned DOWN, because the sun is often absurdly bright and glaring, and we do not have sunglasses or tinted goggles (I find that very unrealistic, I think we should be able to toggle sunglasses or something on and off).
The general layout is somewhat boring. Maybe put SOME of the farms back, but not so many, as it looked pretty redundant/repetitive before.
The water just plain sucks. Reminds me of the water in the fake volcanic lake in the old Bond movie "You Only Live Twice". Sorry, but it is just dull and flat, not to mention boring and ugly.
No problem with the contrast.
The colors are sort of bland and muddled, but not too bad.
Now, this was ONE short hop, from a shoreline base, where I took off and varied between 200 and 2000 feet, and flew over both land and water, for about 15 minutes or so. I did NOT touch my settings, I left them alone ON PURPOSE. All in all, I'd say the changes were 60% good, and 40% bad, mostly I dislike the muddled bland colors and the purely ugly water. The roads, hedgerows, bridges, gun emplacements, and other new detail enhancements were nice.
I did NOT get up into any clouds, nor did I take a GV hop. Maybe later, after work, and if I get my USB issues solved.
