I told Newbs that was too much info but well, thats the way he is.

and yes arenas are too dark, yall young ones eyes are better than us old folks.

tuned gamma til it was too bright. there is no setting that is easy on the old eyes.

yall wet behind the ears don't get it yet and I laugh because your day is coming. yep the day will come when you go to bed tired and get up tired. joints all creaky on you. can't see good or hear good, etc.

hope I'm around on the porch in the rocking chair, or walking with my walker, when yall start the complaints because then I am really gonna ROTFLMAO at yall.

hope all of yas live a long life to suffer the pains of old age.  :p  :t  :lol  :t

I apologise.  Didnt know I had to be a member of the Aces High geriatric club to warrant anyone taking my post seriously.  I am all for feedback, of the constructive type.  Whinging like a spoiled brat to the four winds doesnt exactly fall under that category.  Maybe $15 is a lot out of his social security check and feels like he can demand an instant patch within the day.  All I am saying is, make your point heard, lay out your arguments logically and hope corrective action is hopefully taken.

On another point, calling me a newb based on my number of posts or date I registered in the BBS is nothing short of amusing.   Obviously, not the birghtest cookies in the jar.

I think they turned the sun effects way down, and turned the LIGHT way down as well. Can we get a happy medium? Say halfway between what we had and the new patch?

I was in the TA and I was sure it was twilight but no there is the sun straight up at 12:00. Looking out my window it was darker in there than it was at 8:00 at night on a cloudy day in North Dakota. (aprox 20 - 40 min till full dark)

Yes thats right, high noon in AH and the sky was darker than dusk.

Great fix list HTC, good stuff, firefly looks interesting.

But WAY too dark to be comfortable flying.  Even after I turned the gamma up.

When you've been here long enough you come to realise...

lol- @ all of you and your wasted breath.:rofl :rofl :rofl
Ya don't think they realized the all of the things you are saying before releasing the patch? Fallen on deaf ears.

If you call  and speak to them directly you will have an ear...and a response that goes like...That is understandable but...

It will never go back nor will the be any sort of compromise.

It may make you feel as if you collective point of view has been heard in reality they have already taken into consideration that naturally there will be a considerable group of whiners when it comes to the area of change/progress.

When you've been here long enough you come to realise...this to be true.

I hope I am wrong...but sadly I am most often rt.

How many of you have a properly calibrated screen ?
I'll check tonight as I'm pretty confident mine is calibrated (at least it was last evening when I recalibrated)

At first I had no problem with the shades/color. Lifted off and thought ... hey this looked pretty good...

got into a few fights with allot of turning, climbing and diving.........

Maybe it's the rapid change required to the eye from looking at the bright then the dark?

Not sure ....

Just know I got a headache after 20 minutes or so of flying.

Quick note:

Starcraft ... NP

Quake 4 ... NP

Doom 3 ... NP

IL2 ... NP

Farcry ... NP

Call of Duty 2 ... NP

Dawn of War 40k ... NP

Several other PC Games ... NP

AceHigh II after last patch ... HEADACHE!

When AHII 1st came out I complained to several that there was an, IMHO, imbalance with the ground and sky colors/shades.

Some of my squadies agreed. Had to do something that was unneeded in AHI, INCREASE GAMMA. Increased it from 1.0 to 1.4 to be able to see and fight.

Yes stuff LOOKS GOOD! The art work is GREAT! IMHO it is really really good, and for the GV'ers it's probably wonderful!!!!!!!!! Is AHII going to become another WWII Online?

BUT the contrast? or maybe a better way of expressing it, the choice of color shades when combined SEEM to HURT the eyes, or create eye strain.

With this patch it SEEMS much more pronounced then before.

No mater where I put gamma, no mater how I adjust my monitor settings, no mater what I do, I can not set AHII this patch to ANY level of eye comfort.

EMU why you takin such an attitude?????

Not whining about the actual patch only the coloring and I'm stating fact!  AND I"M NOT ALONE IN THAT VIEW POINT!

I want to remain an AH customer.

IF there will be NO CHANGE as Triumph seems to think, then sadly I'm done here......................... ............................. .....

If I get a headache due to the color/shade/contrast everytime in AH then I will reach a point where the discomfort will make me STOP.

If I STOP then why pay for something I can't use????

I seriously dont see things dark on my screen.  Dont know what it could be.  Maybe my brightness or contrast settings on my monitor? I dont know.  Weird. Things are definitely darker and higher contrasting but nothing that is preventing me from carrying on as I was before the patch.

The only thing that I do agree with is that depth perception is not as good as it used to be.  It is very hard (almost impossible) to spot changes on the terrain (hills, dips, etc)... I took a Jeep out just to check things out and rolled over twice due to failing to realize there was a hill right in front of me.

I used to go here for that http://pages.prodigy.net/ecmorris/tips/monitor.htm but that is now a 404 Not Found site.

Have a good site to calibrate your monitor?

Fair enough.

I am reacting rather strongly.................

don't want to HAVE to stop AH...................

the reaction stems from all the information I have posted here and elsewhere on  this bbs.............

not having any problems with any PC games BUT AH, and I find it MOST upsetting as AH is the PC Game I make use of the most!

I agree with the folks that say it's a little hard on the eyes....  The green is too intense for me...the wrong tone or something...

I don't really care what the ground looks like. It doesn't matter how many trees there are when you are "flying". Instead of changing the ground how about changing a map.:furious
