JUst replying here to above comments! I see HTC getting closer and closer to FSX realism. of course it will take upgrading hardware, but you will be doing that anyway.

Maybe FSX on it's lowest settings, never ran mine down that far before.

These are on Medium-High to High Settings in FSX.  For those of you unfamiliar with MS FSX,
and why some of us may be in some disbelief over the first comment.

Realism!

Wow! FSX photos are very nice! But, dont you think that getting closer
to that realism would be  a goal for HTC?

With tongue firmly planted in cheek, I have to ask… Someone who has made over six thousand post, feels the need to state that people should not comment on everyone else’s thread?

A goal?  Possibly, within reason for performance for an online game, with player setting what level of detail they want client side.
I just don't see the new version of AHII as evidence they are doing anything like that, which is what I think -VM- and I are commenting on.

Water in new version seems designed for lower resource impact.
A lot of nice eye candy added to bases (especially gun pits), beaches (especially near bases), towns, and the broad thick pine forest expanses (which are very well done).  But the wide, dark green patches between everything else are practically bare compared to the old version with it's farms, villas, haystacks, and copse of trees scattered about.  No more barns for GV's to hide in.  Very little cover for GV's.

Were all those things removed to increase performance and frame rate on lower end rigs?

As far as more realism in regards to those large bare expanses: A few more villages and farms.  The burned out buildings.  Rivers, bridges, roads and train tracks.... that's the kind of things I'd expect in an attempt to increase "reality" or detail.

Took a while, but I played with my nVidia cards to get a color, contrast, and gamma level I can finally live with.   Took a while to find a way to download the Patch that would actually work yesterday.
