Stutter!
« on: April 16, 2007, 07:57:42 AM »
Question 1:I am having a problem with stuttering during flying! I am using   HIRez textures.
Does anyone else having this problem?

Question 2: Does anyone also have a problem with the calibrating the stick!
Seems I have a problem starting in auto-take off! I calibrate the stick and all is fine! I change planes and I have to calibrate again!

Thanks!

Stutter Again!

I search the forums here and found a answer by skuzzy on the problem

"If your hard drive is continually being hit while playing the game, then you are simply running out of resources. Any hard drive hit will cause a stutter"

1) turn texture size down to 512 (and if it still does it down to 256).

2) have you tried calbrating in windows first? You need to be calibrated in both windows "game controller" setup and in aces high. Also, what stick? Folks might be able to help if they know what stick it is.

Thanks for the reply!
I have the CH fighter stick! I did use the CH manger also! Once I calibrate in AH all is OK! But, then it seems to lose it during a plane change!

Ok, I am also using the CH rudder pedals and using a x45 Throttle! I removed all the mapping for the x45 stick!
One thing I did notice is that when I go to the mapping, i see that x-axis
actually stuttering! You can see the numbers jumping?

a squaddie of mine was having horrible stuttering since the patch.  Last night he discovered a Directx9 patch that was released on april 10th.  He downloaded and everything is fine again.

If stuttering is a constant problem that has exsisted for awhile I'd guess your running your textures at too high a resolution as other's have surmised.  If it's a recent since the update problem I'd try updated DirectX.

Thank you for the reply! I found the April DirectX Patch
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

Question: Can this also affect the Calibration on the stick?

I honestly have no idea as to what issues the patch specifically was supposed to address.  I was just trying to pass along something that worked for my squaddie who was having some pretty severe issues with stuttering since the last update.

As Soulyss said  >>>> Fix.... I had the same issue after the small update. Tried deleting cache to regenerate... no joy. Seems the problem was DirectX had a small update early April....... still 9c though. Go get the free update and you should be good as new. Mine went from all but unplayable to smooth as glass. :aok

The Direct X Update worked and corrected the Stutter.
I have the link above..

This is all good and hopefully the Direct X 10 Update wont upset this!
I am planning on purchasing the new R600 ATI card for DX10, which FSX will be using!

I forgot to comment on the texture package with AH. You may be correct on the textures, but I see it going in the right direction of realism. I am sure there will be a update soon. I am enjoying the new package very much!
