GV turret idea
« on: April 19, 2007, 11:29:00 PM »
When the engine is OFF, and you're in the pintle gun, can we get the rudder pedals to traverse the turret for us?

Realistically you didn't have to be IN it to turn it, the commander gave the order and the crew inside made it happen. If he's sitting up top he'd just call down and they'd do it.

I say when the engine is OFF to avoid confusion for when the tank is rolling.

Perhaps when the forward speed is 0?

Or make a new command, turret slew, that can be mapped to an axis! Then I can make my rudder pedals slew the turret in 1 stickset, and make them turn the vehicle in another stickset, and just toggle between the two!

If TT is going to be a fixture of the MAs, we might as well start making tanks more realistic.

while driving would be nice. However if you did it from the driver's seat, you couldn't tell where it was aimed. If you did it from the pintle gun, you'd just turn the vehicle.

Maybe it's just the fact that I'm not requiring anything more complex -- we already have the rudder axis, it just does something different when you're not moving!

P.S. Unrelated, I'd like a key to "return turret to forward" while I'm in the hull position.

All nice ideas, 3 thumbs up for this :aok :aok :aok

Another unrelated thing: a 'compass' which indicates the position of the hull compared to the turret (so you can see in which direction your gun points in relation to the hull)

Sounds nice to me, simple but effective, and shouldn't be too hard to modell (since we already have one :) )
