Paying to play - pilot quality
« Reply #15 on: February 09, 2000, 04:21:00 PM »
Please, tell me what those Transparent Antics are?

I like to think that I read a post, and reply in the nature of the post I am replying too.

I have been flying the beta since day 1, although not often.  As I have stated before, here and on AGW, I like the game, it is just not developed to a level that I am comfortable paying for.

Get the HA and planesets up and I'm in.

But I do find that the attitude on THIS board is pretty piss poor in regards to WB and AGW, and for no reason.  I don't recall anyone posting a picture of the B-24 here, and I still have yet to see a post on the AGW deriding AH(Maybe a paricular FEATURE of the game, but still nothing as bad as here on your own board).

Pyro, you hold the cards, my brother, boot me if you like.

<edit>

I just went and did a search for "Gadfly" and reviewed every one of my posts.  Please tell me which ones offend you, other than the one in this thread, which in my opinion was warranted?

Gadfly I can't seem to figure you out..I mean 1 post you call a guy a salamander for no reason then the next you say that there was nothing wrong with your post it just looked bad because there is something wrong with us.

 You go to AGW and call us names then come back here and say there are no bad post on AGW about AH.

How many personalities do you have?

I'm not sure you have the right callsign..I think it should be Cybil.

Where do you see on the AGW where I called anyone anything?  Here for that matter execpt for this post.

(Look under "Lizking")

This is what I was replying to:

"Well we'll certainly see less brands W and A "poepl" popping in to say "This sucks!" just to be disruptive.
Sadly the same can't be said about the forumns."

-Westy

And I resent that remark, and certainly do not think that it is representative of WB players.

Indian and Hblair you guys must be C programmers...

Westy, AGW is not representative of most WB users.  The AGW people are by far more rabid.  That said, most of the anti-AH crowd on AGW fall into one of the following groups:

1.  Comped Accounts.  Why pay $30/month when they can fly for free.
2.  Mac Users.  They have a (legit) bone to pick.  Sour grapes because they are left out.
3.  Friends or Squaddies of Mac Users.
4.  HA/Scenario nuts.  Also a legit bone to pick...  For now.

 Well, you certainly have a comprehension problem Lizking. Why the "shades" btw?
 I said people form brand W(Warbirds) and brand A(Airwarrior) won't be popping in just to be disruptive. Too bad if you got your panties in a knott over it. What I said was the truth. People from both sims HAVE come in only to clog the airwaves with garbage and thier unadulterated , sarcastic and  vulgar "thoughts" on AH.
  No where did I say ALL WBers or ALL AWiers and I never even said it was representative of either communities members.
 Why don't you pony up the $$$ and then stick around to post how AHt sucks or needs to be changed. Till then just bugger off.

This is the reason I rarely visit AGW anymore.  I sure hate to see it happen over here ...

Back to the thread's topic:
>Was the pilot quality even higher last night?

Well, except for me, I think it's higher.  I'm doing my part to try to hold the average down, tho.  I'm not much interested in main arena play, tho, so's if you want the easy kill let's get those historical events working ...

Again, Show me where I have said anything bad about AH or its players, here or on AGW(except for my reply to your post).

And I will be the first one to apologize, to you, Westy, because flaming tempers are never the right answer, and to Pongo, for poisoning his thread.

Show me where I have said anything negative about AH the game or the players of AH(not a feature, mind you, that is what Beta boards's are for).

As far as my "shades", it isn't a secret, when the board began, I often signed my posts Lizking.

Ya know.. maybe it's just me.. but I have actually noticed an increase in the amount of petty BS going on in the arena (and to a certain extent on the boards) in my two days of paid play so far.  Nothing real serious, but a lot of arrogance, childish bragging, taunting, bickering,etc.. the silly stuff I would have expected when it was free, but was hoping would decrease as the "higher quality, more mature" pilots stayed around after pay-for-play.  Nothing was directed at me, and in general most pilots are honorable, respectful, etc.  It just appears that some are feeling a little bolder now that they pay for the right to talk crap.  I was even more surprised when I read the age/occupation survey someone ran awhile back and realized that a majority of the pilots in AH are well past their teenage years.  I'm 37, and happen to be leader of a Quake clan, so I am used to seeing all the childish lameness on Quake servers, but I chalk that up to the fact that I'm dealing with children most of the time.  It is a bit disheartening to see, but typical I guess of the wide variety of personalities in any group of this size.  To most of ya, it's a pleasure fighting with or against ya.... to the select few who are "personality challenged", well, whatever spins yer prop, but do yer talkin with yer guns, and leave the BS at the door.  The silent but deadly foe is the one who gets my respect, for he obviously doesnt need to hear his own voice telling himself how good he is.

Tip o' the wings to all.

Gadfly;

I read your comment above, from the tone I thought you and Westy were friends in real life.  I thought it to be a playful jibe.  This was not the case.

Un-asked for Advice:
If you would say something to a persons face that would risk quick injury to your own face.  Then never write it down.  IMO shows low class and no guts.

BTW, I thought this thread started well.  But, I am cluesless to how it got the way it is now and in such a blasted hurry.

Is there a punishment for "Dweeby" sad faces?

I've already called you on it and you ignored it.  And no, you've never posted that you were lizking, a quick search verifies that.  The only reason you bring it up now is because I pointed it out and now you want to play it off.  Play your games all you want and think you're fooling everybody.  I won't waste anymore time on you.

What and when did you point out?  I guess I am the only person here who is using a differnt name than on WB?

I tell you what, Pyro, I am not sure what set you off, but, no worries, bro, problemo solved.

Gentlemen, it has been an experience.

P.S.  Minotaur, Had I heard that comment face to face, my reply would have been similar.

<edit>  Ahh I found what set you off, Pyro. And the cache(?) of the board doesn't go back far enough to find those posts that I was talking about, although I see that you did call me lizking in your reply.

Gadfly;

Doubt it.  IMO you have not learned respect for what a fast comment does and how a faster pop in the lip feels.

In any event, good luck to you!  Carry on...

Fortunately, this thread flew by me at the speed of light.  At first I thought I was missing something but that quickly passed.

Next!
