Ya know.. maybe it's just me.. but I have actually noticed an increase in the amount of petty BS going on in the arena (and to a certain extent on the boards) in my two days of paid play so far. Nothing real serious, but a lot of arrogance, childish bragging, taunting, bickering,etc.. the silly stuff I would have expected when it was free, but was hoping would decrease as the "higher quality, more mature" pilots stayed around after pay-for-play. Nothing was directed at me, and in general most pilots are honorable, respectful, etc. It just appears that some are feeling a little bolder now that they pay for the right to talk crap. I was even more surprised when I read the age/occupation survey someone ran awhile back and realized that a majority of the pilots in AH are well past their teenage years. I'm 37, and happen to be leader of a Quake clan, so I am used to seeing all the childish lameness on Quake servers, but I chalk that up to the fact that I'm dealing with children most of the time. It is a bit disheartening to see, but typical I guess of the wide variety of personalities in any group of this size. To most of ya, it's a pleasure fighting with or against ya.... to the select few who are "personality challenged", well, whatever spins yer prop, but do yer talkin with yer guns, and leave the BS at the door. The silent but deadly foe is the one who gets my respect, for he obviously doesnt need to hear his own voice telling himself how good he is.
Tip o' the wings to all.
