Uh what happened?
« on: April 24, 2007, 10:21:47 AM »
Not trying to cause a problem, I just want to know.

I came online and saw a bunch of threads closed with no comment. I can understand some of them, but don't understand why others were closed..... Do we have a new prohibition regarding any thread about firearms now?
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

There is a successful OT forum on another BBS I visit (Automobiles) where they have Poly Sci as a sub-forum on the OT forum. It is populated by people from all walks of life, globally.  It is a very successful forum, meaning that all the garbage is put in one trash can so to speak.... Politics, Religion and firearms (laws and such) are strictly prohibited in the OT forum, but allowed in the Poly Sci forum. Skuzzy would have fewer headaches if they just let us play, but in another sandbox under the OT forums. (Shrugs)

Considering that the O'Club has 821,000+ posts (not including the reset), I think a certain amount of confidence in the admin'ing is merited.  This is the most successful forum I've participated in, I think y'all would be hard pressed to find another hive of scum & villainy with as much member retention and civil discourse.

A couple of them seemed fairly civil considering the themes.

Ah well, it helps me to remember this place is after all a privillege one enjoys at the discretion of the management, rather than some sort of God-given right.

The one titled A puppet government will not be tolerated was quite civil and while not entirely on topic (how many threads actually do stay on topic past the first page? lol), there was some good information being exchanged in that one.

Oh well.

If a thread has the word "gun" in it the same people say the same things over and over.

We just need to sticky one of them.

A reason why those threads were closed would have been nice, I looked at them and none seemed over the top.

Maybe a player MP is showing his anti gun bias?

looks to me like some folks want to start trouble by posting in threads that obviously don't concern them or that they are not capable of adding any useful info on..
The threads your speaking of don't seem to be locked for speaking about holsters or guns.... but locked because of the trouble makers that are incapable of contributing anything to the original specified question asked. Seems banning folks that are out for trouble would be a nice addition to the threads rather than locking threads because of them.

Are you guys serious in thinking that you didn't see this coming?  Every thread was the exact same thing repeated over and over.

Within the course of 20-30 posts, people would start again arguing the same points.  It was a circular argument with neither side conceding defeat.

No PNG's that I saw, but some people need to get a smaller soapbox and a new script.

Stretching the same arguement over 3-4 threads is just silly and lame.
