I looked at it a 2nd time and also realized I lost him in the vertical there at the end....I think I actually ended up turning the wrong way....goes back to the "lose sight, lose the fight" comment above.
Both clips Dichotomy posted were against good sticks....under those circumstances it doesnt take much. When I happened across this cleaning stuff up I thought it would be a good one here because it is well flown. The 38 makes no major mistakes, I manufacture one decent look (very similiar to the A-20/38 clip BTW) and then just get worn down.
I never disengage from a one on one....I'll extend enough to "reload" but thats about it. As a general rule I'll fight anything in anything. You have a window of "equal footing" (IMO) where a fight is ACM vs ACM more then plane vs plane. If your in the "inferior" ride you run the risk that eventually you'll just run out of options....however you can also catch guys sleeping or truely unaware of what your plane can do. The A-20 is a good case in point, I killed a 262, pony, tempest and Ki-84 on the same hop earlier this month and my best landed sortie was 8 kills (all air to air). I view myself as "good" in anything and "great" in nothing. What I will do is fly the full range of ACM in anything...if your fast, I'll get slow. If you go vertical I'll grab the under. If you go slow i'll try and speed you up and then go all angles on you. In the end you need to find some aspect of the fight that favors you and try and exploit it. Alot of the time thats simply doing the unexpected....
