Ditchin in town on concrete?
« on: April 28, 2007, 09:09:42 PM »
Over this past month, I and others have been getting ditch messages while landing GVs in towns while on concrete.  Not everytime, but enough times.

What are the designated areas a GV can land on in towns now?
The AArch AAngelz is its own country, we owe loyalty only unto ourselves and those we fly with at the moment.---AAolds AArch AAngelz XO.

I love to GV and do Jabo missions vs GVs, get used to it.  Being good at one helps in the other.

I haven't had any probs when I land on the hanger pad. I've gotten ditches when I landed on the road.

Funny you bring this up, my squaddies were just talkin' about this last night.  We all have had several "ditches" while parked on the pavement???

My suggestion and opinion would be to make the entire area inside the city a "safe" place to land IF it is your city.

Anywhere INSIDE the line IMO should be a safe zone and should result in a successful landing.  With the new terrain changes it's sometimes a roll of the dice weather you get a ditch or not even tho you're on "pavement"

Just a thought

Maybe the game is only programmed to recognize a safe landing on what it calls concrete. To redefine whole areas as "safe" would probably mean making the whole base out of concrete. I've always wondered if safe landings at spawn points mean the area around the spawn is just recolored and textured to blend in "concrete".

Make the WHOLE base a safe spot! Earlier this evening I taxid an Ar-234 to the re-arm pad, misjudged the building distance and broke my wings off. My nosewheel was INCHES from concrete. Got a ditch. While 30 points is truely trivial, its the principal of it! I hadnt taken a single hit, and there wasnt an enemy for 3 grids!

Here's how it works for vehicles.

If you're ON friendly concrete, you should get a "safe" landing every time -- should, there's the odd report that at times it doesn't.

If you're closer to a friendly base than an enemy base -- and this includes out in the wilderness -- you will get a safe landing as long as nobody is around. I mean NOBODY. If there's so much as one person within x miles of you, it's a ditch. I think you might even be able to tower out safely at an enemy field, as long as there's nobody around.

Somebody did a lot of testing way back when Stalin's Fourth was run, because we were using GVs often in it.
