immelman in lancs

Watched a dude do several immelmans in lancasters (1k) above ground, then precision bomb gv targets -----Without losing a single drone.

Wish I had filmed it. Amazing, however I do not believe this should be able to be done --- in a single bomber let alone a 3 bomber formation.

Didnt really rattle me at first, actually sent a for the move. Later in same arena watched one of his squaddies do the same thing in B24. '

Something just doesnt seem right here == in an aviation sort of way.

Anyone else able to do this, I attempted it several times and cant flip a single bomber fom that alt, let alone keep the formation together.

Amazing skills I guess.

Hope to film it soon.

Point is. You shouldnt be able to.
ESPECIALLY with live bombs on board

the ability to do things like that. and even more frequenlty dive bomb in heavy bombers is beyond the point of absurdity.

Just because it was done once or twice during the war doesnt mean it sould be allowes.
If your going to permit that. Then you should also be able to KAMAKAZI planes into a CV and the support ships and do damage which was a much much more common occurance

Just sayin I cant turn left after a bombing pass to reaquire a target without losin a drone, and then rarely hit anything.

And Ive been here since 2001 flyin em all.

The guy that did this has 24 kills in 184 sorties in a fighter this month, thinkin he aint really too good at flyin but able to pull thiss off twice ,,,,, while bein shot at

Weird if u ask me

Turning without losing the drones is easy.

Well since he sucks at everything else in the game, he's had time to perfect this. It was unchallenging. The only reason he sucks in fighters is because he chose the path of least resistance and went this route. If he took the time like he did to be able to do this, he'd probably be a decent stick.

So. Should make an easier target for you. What kind of advantage is a bomber getting by doing this?

I been seeing a lot of that . If you are in a plane no worry. Now if your in a gv hang it up. There is no need for fighter bombers. Learn the trick and carry 5 times as much malice that any jabo can. I watched a Lanc loop with drones a few days ago. I was amazed. They usually don't last long at least. BTW a8's in the area seem to curb the Buff acrobatics .

Don't think the Lanc could do an Immelmann, but fully laden it could to a tight "corkscrew" manuever that twisted the bomber through a 360 degree turn, first spinning down and then up back on to the original course.  It was apparently used with some success to shake night fighters.

Its not that hard. So long as you can keep everything smooth, Ill gladly post film of myself doing it. While it shouldnt be possible, structure is taken into account at least SOMEWHAT, so other than the fact that the pilot is crapping himself, obviously the maneuver isnt TOO tough, at least not for this cartoon picture.

I don't know about the current FM, but back in the day in AH 1 almost anyone could take a b17 / lanc and "out-loop" most all planes without losing anything.

with all the guys doing the turn radius stuff I'd be REALLY curious for the loop data. Minimum speed to perform a full loop at lowest altitude (lowest altitude recorded based on sea level), alt lost on loop at 5K / 10K so on, including "continuous loop" if possible and minimum altitude for said planes.

BTW here's me drunk as heck just messing around, doing a immelmann in a lanc with a full bomb load, and trying a second...

notice I entered the whole thing at the lowest speed to maintain flight.... imagine someone with more speed and control than a drunk man.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Just barrel rolled an Fw-190 and an Me-262 in a Lancaster. Got it on film. Where should I host the AHF file?
