If you are a new player and you have to ask someone how to lower your gear YOU DESERVE to lose your kill to the ALT-F4 trick.

I am totally with you on this one rauchen! The "Alt-F4" gambit is sophomoric and it leaves the newbie with the impression that their presence isn't' needed or necessary (which couldn't be further from the truth!). It's only funny to those that take delight in messing with others and it would be nice if folks would just stop doing it. But I am a realist and I know that a certain few in the community will not be able to control their urges and try and be funny at the expense of a noob.

Why would a any new player deserve that just because they didn't know something about the game?
Do you expect them to be instant experts at it or something?

I expect them to read the manual. I expect them print out the command sheets instead of barrage country channel for everything they need to know. If they are too lazy to print the command page they get what they deserve.

I would NEVER pull the alt+f4 gag on ANYONE. Honest! And Nixon was not a crook.

I laughed my butt off when I got pranked with it. And I still think it's funny as he**. It's even better when a veteran player gets alt+f4 on the brain and does it by mistake (I'm looking at you, 96Delta).

Having said that, I do help the noobs out an awful lot as long as they're not buttheads (anyone remember gutrip? sheesh). I just can't resist the alt+f4 trick a lot of the time

My best prank was when I convinced two new guys that, if shot down, a friendly could come pick him up in a C47. Everyone got a good laugh at that one.

Pranks are fun. Nobody is going to quit the game over one and everyone gets a good laugh.

If you don't find such things funny you may want to find a doctor to remove that stick.

There is a difference between being in the training arena and in the MAs. For new people, it clearly list the arenas. Now don't help me, but the training arena sounds like a good place to learn things. If you are to clueless as to go to the TA, let alone read the manual then you deserve it.

BTW I've spent many months in the TA/DA both teaching and learning. When I logged into AH for the 1st time I went to the MA. Realizing that it wasn't the place to learn, 10 mins later I was in the TA. In the MA if someone brings up a question that is simple to find, I sure as heck will give them the ol alt-F4. Now if I was in the TA I'd answer their questions honestly.
