some training suggestions?
« on: May 16, 2007, 10:49:16 PM »
hey all,
i don't know if this is the rightplace to put these or not.........

a couple of possible suggestions though?

1)for off-line practice, might it not help if thedrones shoot back, and do somehting besides fly in circles?

2)this one i think is a biggie........is there any way to add an option to the film viewer that would allow the viewer to see the control inputs as they happened?? i think this would be helpful to some new guys so they could see just what you had to do to make the aircraft do whrat it did...

think thats it...

1.  Sure, it'd help, but who knows when, if ever, it will be implemented.

2.  I don't believe the instruments move on film viewer (could be wrong), but you can always click "show trails" to get a better idea of what they're doing.  Alternately, you could ask a trainer or helper to let you sit in their plane, and to talk you through what controls they're moving to make the manuevers.  Then you could film that and listen.

well, i've tried the trails, but they still leave the question....what was done to make it do that? like,........did he cross control at the top of the loop to achieve that weird, but killing move? did he cut an engine(in the case of twins)to get that unbelievably quick roll/flip?

we have computer simulators for R/C models, which allows a vies in the lower corner of where the sticks are positioned to accomplish any maneuver, as it happens..........other than that, i don't know how to explain what i'm trying to get at......

I think I understand what your saying as to the RC sim,a small window opens to show stick position, throtle and rudder. I'm not sure how much work to the film viewer it would need to show this,or if it can even be done.
However,I would point out that all sticks are different and most players do some sort of adjustments to the axis,[scaling, dampening, ect.] so the imput that would show up,in the window, might be different to what you'd have from your stick.
I think it's a good idea just not sure if it would work. the offline practice might benefit from CT's AI pilots and have AI fly some simple patterns to hone your attacks on.
Personally I'd like to beable to turn off the AA that shoots at the drones,it really makes things too busy for me!:furious :furious :furious

yes!!you've hit exactly what i was trying to suggest. i also understand abouit thescaling differences too.......but if we assumed that u(morfiend)and i were dueling, and i suddenly lost you......then die. so i watch the film.....mine, and the one u sent me........i now see that you did some manuever i've not seen before...or might have but can't figure out how to do it.......so i can click the option to watch inputs.......even if your stick IS scaled different than mine, it'd still give me BASIC idea. somewhere to start.

or i could just be usin this as an excuse to gripe:cry

:O
