Nelson died.
However the battle was won.
It was however before such times of hostages.
The prince would have worked like ripe clover for bees. Could have been counted as useful perhaps?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

It's strange that two countries could be such close allies yet so distant ideologically. I mean, not only do they not hang their kings, but they seem to be proud of them.

Back in the days it was easier for a king to stay alive though. If they'd been subjected to attacks by covert civilians, ranged fire or remote controlled explosions at any given moment, I doubt they would've stayed close to the frontline. They had a huge army around them and nobody got close to the king until the army was destroyed - Usually by then the king would've already fled back to home. Nobody either gave a crap if they killed a few civilians they didn't like. Would be much easier for Harry, too, if he could just opt to erase a whole village should a problem arise. Though, back in the age of kings there wasn't much for the civilian population to do; They could've only wielded a knife against an army, but nowadays a single man can blow up a convoy.

Last time I checked, Nelson was never a Prince, let alone a King.

I do believe there are still Nelson types serving right now in Iraq et al.

I think everyone is aware of that...but the England expects EVERY man to do his duty Nelson quote is relevant because Harry is an Englishman.

Harrry threatened to resign his comission if he wasn't allowed to go.  Wonder if he will.

I understand the desire to preserve a life that is in line for the throne.

I also understand that an individual who is expected to be the one others look up to for real leadership has to go where those he wants to follow him are going. Either he is a real soldier or he's merely a paper picture of a soldier.

If he made the offer to resign the commission over this he should. There is no reason to continue a fraud by the royals by one wearing a uniform they will not honor by deeds.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Thank goodness the U.S. will never have that problem while Bush and Cheney are in office.

I'm saying none of their children would ever serve in uniform for this country.

It is unfortunate situation.  The man has the will, and feels its his duty to fight, however him going would put everyone else at risk.

If he still feels he wants to fight there are tons of other ways he can.  Because your not physically on the battle field doesn't mean your not contributing....

Prince Andrew served with distinction in the Falklands, but I guess Argies aren't quite as dangerous as southern Iraq where I thought every British soldier was a target....

Good on Harry for wanting to go...
