"SHIFT" button
« on: May 20, 2007, 04:46:58 PM »
I know it's possible through third party software (Such as the SST Saitek Programming software), but I don't like using those if I can avoid it... just has the potential for too many conflicts.

I'd like to see HT incorporate a "shift" button... like... while it's held down you are in MODE4, and when you release it it puts you back to the mode you were in.  This way you could have multiple assignments for each button and get a TRUE HOTAS setup without having to deal with 50,001 buttons!

Shift doesn't work for you now?

I changed the bail from ENTER 3X to SHIFT-ENTER long ago to prevent accidental bails while doing a lot of texting.   You should be able to set up what you want in the Keypad Mapping that is already in the game under Global, Flight, View, and so forth.  May work for joysticks in some cases as well?

Or are you trying to have 4 uses for each button found on the joystick and throttle, one for each Mode, so you don't have to use the keyboard much at all?

I guess he mean joystick buttons within one set.

I think the idea is to change the mode buttons to "press & hold down" rather than a single key stroke to select.

in AW software you could change the key stroke to one of

press and hold down (press for select- release for deselect) or
toggle press once for on press again for off, or indeed
press once for single functionality

IN AH the toggle/non toggle option is set by HTC into the functionality of the operation. There are no press & hold down functions  that reverse the command when releasing the button. (unless you count the POV)

Instead of having to hold that button to switch to diff mode.

Set up a joystick button to alternate between modes.

I normally use mode 1 & 2 to shift between flat views & up views.
Also primary guns only, and full guns.

In mode 1, set button to change to mode 2.
In mode 2 set button to change to mode 1.

You now have an alternating switch.
