I think that by far the best trend in tatoos was the male tramp stamp (lower back tattoo). It was popular for about 6 minutes back in the 90s, but in that 6 minutes, enough sweetheart bags got it for a lifetime of joke material.

FTW......I still feel that pretty often. :)
DILLIGAF----1%------tear drops under the eye , etc. I`ve seen a lot of people get cover ups that are like that...old school Identification can cause some probs sometimes.

I have never regretted the tats.   They are history.

Same here. I am pretty pleased with every one I have. Some make a statement on who I am and how I feel about things to those who have been down the road.
Some are unmistakable  in their meaning to most. I have one pretty large one on my upper back shoulder in memory of the loss of probably the best friend I have ever had. He knew what brotherhood was and he lived by it as far as myself and him was concerned. Pretty scarce nowadays.
It is a tat of an Inian hunter, on a rearing  pony, with his bow at full draw, being charged by a buffalo. It was taken from a full page ad for Ben Pearson way back there when they were in Ark. A few days before he died he found it  a magazine and pointed it out to me. It pretty well summed up the way that he wished things still were.
I have one on the upper part of my left forearm that I got in Sturgis in `97 in memory of my Dad shortly after he passed away. Without a doubt the finest man I ever have or ever will meet  .  That one means a lot to me.
I have one large one running on the inside of my right arm from the bend to the very bottom of my wrist. It is a chain in 1" by 2' inch links running through  the top of the head and coming out the opened jaw bones of a horned , fanged skull. That represents to me a chunk of my life that started pretty young will continue to be chained to me for the rest of my life. One link has asamll gap that`s not fully joined. You never know. :) I`m sort of surprised at the number of people who have spotted it, looked at me grinning, shaking their head in affirmative. They get it. :)
Wooden flag pole , with Rebel Flag, planted firmly through a skull, with eagle hovering above.
Let the touchy/feely crowd tell me I can`t fly that one. :aok
Dragon wrapped around a rose. Spear with wooden shaft through a skull planted in the ground amidst cactus.
Winged skull with H-D stroker cap. ;)
Large Indian warrior skull with braided hair and war feather still attached. He looks PO`d. LOL
The very first one...old school upswept wings eagle Harley emblem. I didn`t even have to think about that one. I knew by the time I was 14 that H-D would be a part of my entire life. Ain`t broken yet.
We have the large flames covering 3/4s of my right arm, worked into and around the other tats outlined and partialy colered. Had to put it on hold and order a different brand of ink from Huck. In the meantime the young son of my neighbor that is doing the work on that one has been enduring the soon to be ex wife`s game of "Lets see how many times I can pick up the phone and get all mushy enough for the local law to throw him in jail."  Equal my ***. Delays. Delays.

The main thing is.. whenever I get too full of myself and think I am this normal great citizen, father, whatever... I get a glace of myself in the mirror while getting dressed or taking a shower and go..."you aint foolin anyone.. I know who you are."

POW! You rang my bell with that.
Will put a new topic up about this shortly.
Too lengthy for here.

We are what we are and we did what we did...  our mind trys to forget the bad and pump up the good.. tats, for better or worse.. become a permenant part of our history.

Yep. A virtual ink time line.
They really come in handy sometimes as repellent for a lot of waste of oxygen nobodys trying to hide behind two faced disguise of "Mr. Straight and Narrow poster child".............while they pick the pockets of anyone they can get their hands on.
I can`t help but get a kick out of the ones who will be strolling down the aisles of some store in their best looking for a way to help society uniforms and glance up to see me coming from the other direction. Gasp! Disdain! Hugging the shelves or making abrupt turns down the nearest side aisle. Can`t get too close. Might be catching. :rofl
Usualy the same type that will get caught behind the white haired lady with her cart in the middle of the aisle doing and indepth price comparison on 10 different brands of baking soda. The tapping of the foot starts. Checking the Rolex about every five seconds with a disgusted look of indignation and self importance on their face.
I usualy see them again on their way out while I`m sitting on the benches with the old farmers and such having some great your life/my life story swaps while I wait on my wife helping the gray haired old lady nail down the best bargain on the baking soda.

If my so called anti social billboard keeps most of the self important, two faced scum away from me then that`s an added extra bonus. They would put me to sleep with their tales of lifetime boredom anyway.
I have some great friends from all walks of life, in every age group that never give my tats a second thought. We become friends according to what we have in common, not some act of what anyone wants us to be.

I have plenty of history too. I just don't see the need to advertise it. I really don't see a good reason to have something that creates an identity in peoples minds without creating the the need for some work on their part to discover who you are. Why would you want people to jump to conclusions about you, or why would you want to be so shallow as to think that your life or personality can be summed up in a few pictures?

nothing to do with other people.. it is for me.

It is done anyway.. to deny who you were is silly.   I don't really advertise tho...any long sleeve t shirt hides almost everything.  and.. like I said.. by todays standards.. I really don't have many... they just aren't cartoons.

Weeds out the phonies

For that matter why would I want to associate with people who jump to conclusions about me without ever bothering to get to know me.

To me Those who would jump to conclusions about someone because of tattoos are the true shallow ones

very good point chair.. exactly one of the things I thought about.. especially back in the day... when a tat was a rare thing..

Even went so far as to make sure that they were covered easily..

now... after decades of wear and tear... besides the fingerprint thing and all the baggage I drag around ..  I am beat up enough that tats are just one more identifying mark   At a young age I had enough scars to make your point a moot one.

You post a paragraph or 2 on how you love having people make snap judgements on how bad bellybutton you are based on the tats and I'm ironic? LOL.
