Things you find Cleaning your Garage
« on: May 29, 2007, 08:26:53 PM »
Well actually cleaning out my parents garage I cam across some of my grandparents stuff.
Inside was was a commendation to my grandfather signed by pres. Gerald ford and another by General Dwight D. Eisenhower for his exemplary service.

i asked my mother about it and she related to me that he was a master srgt and Ikes driver during WWII. and served Pres. Ford as well.
I never knew him as he died before I was born. He was my mothers father and i knew he served I didnt know he was one of ikes drivers. I also found several letters to my grandmother and mother from when he was overseas.
turns out he knew Ike, Kennedy, nixon and Ford. And served as a driver and part of their security.
M mother said she never said anything because for so long when she was a kid she was told to never tell and not make a big deal out of it. Anyways i thought id share this. i think its pretty cool.

EDIT: i also found a fully operational apple 2+ with all the addon stuff. I booted it up and it still works, although kinda slow lol. My father swears its worth something and wont let me throw it out.......maybe in 20-30 years:O

That's cool !
I recently found out that my Uncle was in the CIA, and apparently involved in a lot of stuff during the Vietnam war.
Enough stuff that when his daughter wanted to go to Russia in the late 70's, the the State Department would'nt give her a visa.

DoS didn't give a US citizen a visa to go outside US into a Democratic country!?

And this people bait us for "keeping people inside the fence". I bet your Cousin didn't get university education payed by State and never worked with classified materials, or did she?...

The State Department doesn't issue visas to US citizens. The embassy of the country being traveled to issues a visa.

You ever thought of becoming a comedian?

:rofl
Democracy is two wolves deciding on what to eat. Freedom is a well armed sheep protesting the vote.

Well, Eastern block countries were called "countries of people's democracy".

I find Flit's post very interesting. My Father had highest possible clearance and noone stopped me from visiting the US in 1989 because of that.

Such small details add some flavour to propaganda screaming I usually meet here, like several posts above.

I think he meant issuing a passport so the poor girl could leave the country.
