Who will save 2007.
Who is going to save 2007. This year is a bad one. Do you know anyone?

It cannot (and is not) anyone running for public office or anyone in public office, they have already lost. All,….all all all all all all politicians are cheaters and lyres and not one on the face of this earth will lift a finger to help the world.

P.S.  Please leave religion out of this.

So what is his\her name.

2007 will be saved by...  Canadian scientists who will discover a way to easily convert tap water into American beer (not too hard, there are few chemical differences, making it the easier problem to solve).

The ability to have "Beer Faucets" in every house with the installation of a small device at the local treatment plants will result in a drop in domestic violence and infidelity (men will both find their wives more attractive and have no reason to go out to bars), fix our middle east problems when the various wheat, rice, and hops harvesters are pushed into diverting their wares to be turned into biofuel that replaces all imported oil, and valuable shelf space in the local grocery stores that once held Miller and Coors will be available for use by the various hippy-juice companies, making agitators and protesters around the country suddenly feel accepted.

Our president will "loosen up" and withdraw troops, and the various terrorist supporting economies will collapse in on themselves by the sudden loss in demand for their product and will beg for us to deploy back so we can continue to support their local stores.  We will decline, and the Middle East will reformat itself as a nice tourist destination.

Dogs and cats will, in the spirit of cooperation, sign a peace accord, the sun will come out just a little more often, and the streets will be filled with the sounds of laughing children playing stick ball and hopscotch while evading weaving cars piloted by buzzed drivers coming home from a relaxing day of well hydrated Air Traffic Control.

approx. 450 american soldiers and at least a few thousand Iraqi civilians would beg to disagree.  if they could, that is...  but hey, as long as YOU'RE happy...

He gets to fly an F-15 for a living and has a Trans Am.  I'd say his life is pretty damned good selfishness or not.

Better 450 soldiers in someone else's country than another few thousand civvies here.

At the risk of throwing gas on the fire...

As long as you're getting self-rightous and all indignant about fatalities, let's try a little actual logic.  Since we invaded Iraq, there have been just under 4,000 combat casualties and around 10 times that many wounded in Iraq.  The conflict has been so successful in attracting all the violent religious nutters in the world that there hasn't been another successful follow-up attack in the US, in spite of all the people that always hated the US loudly claiming how much MORE they hate us now.

Yet car accidents in the US claimed that many in just the first few months of 2007.

Do you begin to understand why I think maybe you are focusing on the wrong problems, and wasting your emotional involvement on a situation that, compared to both historical conflicts and problems occurring right in your own backyard, just doesn't deserve the level of attention you're giving it?

Holy hell man, illegal immigrants and smugglers (both people and drug smugglers) murder more people every year than we have lost in combat each year.  Where's your protest over that problem which has been going on for the last several DECADES?

Get a grip man.  And read some history before you repeat nonsense about how terrible the Iraq war is.  It's a f**king walk in the park compared to other equally important conflicts in world history.  Grab a history book and learn to filter the BS you see/hear on TV every day.  The worst part of the current Iraq war is how it's being used by politicians on both sides of the aisle to twist an unpleasant reality into re-election votes.

BTW I'm back instructing in the T-37.  Due to training cycles, career choices, force drawdowns, etc etc., it's unlikely I'll ever get back into a fighter.  It's cool though, 'cause the T-37 (and T-6 replacement) doesn't deploy :)

The thing is, the problems you mention are completely, 100% out of my control.  Criminals will be criminals, all we can do is punish them.  Do we feel guilt over the actions of criminals?  No, that would be silly.  We are not collectivly responsible for the actions of the groups you mentioned.  They're criminals and act outside the law.  We are all, to a certain extent, responsible for the actions of our gov't. That reflects on us.

Besides, it's not wasted emotional involvment.  I've got family and friends over there right now.  I just want to see them again, and if it costs me a few extra bucks at the pump, so be it.
