Good Old days
« on: May 30, 2007, 01:45:43 PM »
Is it just me or does it seem the MA is going downhill? I remember when it was possible to find a good 1 on 1. Anymore it seems that you either have to join a horde to possibly get a shot on something or you get ganged by a horde. This game seems to have turned into more of arcade game.:(

Lately I've had much more fun in the DA then the MA and that never used to be the case. I'm not sure if it's because we don't see any big maps anymore or what but it quit frankly is boring to play now. If you do by chance see a single con away from a horde it's usually because it's a new fella that doesn't know what he is doing yet. It has become VERY RARE to find a good fight and it's a shame.:(

What do you think vets?

Try MW if you want 1v1.  Sure you may not be able to fly your uber plane, but no one else can either.

I am usually in the MA, but have had a great time padding someone else's K/D recently.

Two things in play here i think.  Lots of new folks on is the biggest part.  School being out has brought the summer influx of kids too.

That being said, the fights are still there.  I had a blast last night.  It is interesting how many new names show up on the kill message though.

I don't think it's any different then last spring however.

Bah, same posts 4 years ago.  MA mentality is the same. Maybe a litle more crowded

MW is great but usually the 10 people that are in there are only there to milk run. I don't mind "flying" high eny planes...although I do use the D-pony alot in the LW arena. In fact when I go to the DA I usually "fly" 109F's 99.9% of the time and I have MUCH more fun in there.

May I (once again) suggest the MW or EW?

In the early days of AH, 60-100 players online was a big night. There were many nights where we all had a blast with 30-40 players online. Of course, back then those 30-40 would be actively looking for a fight rather than actively hiding from a fight. :)

Still, you can have a great time in MW or EW. Odds are that even if you favor a particular LW ride, there will be an earlier variant available that so that flying won't seem too awfully different than your LW fave.

It only takes a handful of folks looking for action to make a great night in EW or MW. Give it a try!

If the action is slow, you can always go spoil the milkmaid missions that are going on as people struggle to make their uber squad number 1 in the rankings. :)

If you really seek a 1 on 1, the DA is your best bet.  Or even helping a noob or two in the TA.

You can also sometimes find a light ant trail with a base to defend at the end of it.  1 vs a few, at least until the rest of the horde migrates there.

You may find a few good fights in EW and MW, with their lower populations.  Might be more like you were used to years ago.

Though not strictly a 1 v 1, the KoTH events are fun.

As to LW and hordes.  You are better off if you get a mini-squad or fighter sweep going.  Alternate between lead and wingman, and the pairs helping each other out.  Work around the edges of a furball (the middle being a free-for-all).

Running solo during the real thing in WWII was a good way to get ganked for real.  Not surprising to see similar group behaviors here too.

Try it at about 6-11pm CST all you need is 4-10 people in there to have some of the best fights youll ever have. If no one is in there go in and sit in the tower while eating or something. Good chance someone will show up to see what your doing.

Bucky73...

consider the times you fly...and then...study the map....

LOOK for a fight...don't just follow the hoard. There are many fights to be
found by watching the Map.

Just my 2 cents...Good Luck! I hope you find that which you seek.
