awmac... so your solution involves a much bigger islolationist government with no cheap goods and higher taxes and no school or medical choice for Americans..

Isolationism, while seeming to be rather nice is not workable in an industrialized society. In a purely agrarian 1800's style economy it is as long as you are willing to forgo all that is not indigenous to your own borders. That goes all the way down to food. Like coffee? it will be gone as will other foods you don't have grown here.

We cannot as a society survive in an isolationist environment. Too much of our lifestyle is based on a global economy with trade. Until you are ready to go back to the 1800's system and live on your own plot of ground, assuming there was enough arable land to allow the current population to farm that inefficiently and there isn't, you are just making noise.

The real trick is to figure out how to make everyone, including ourselves, realize that this is our only home for now and we all have to get along in order to make it comfortable and prosperous for the human race. Once we expand outwards, splintering into factions is doable, again with autonomous self supporting societies in their new location. That won't happen for quite some time.

I do. Once that happens with massive layoffs, unemployment, bread lines, riots .. we will implode.
You gun nuts would become very popular though with all your unarmed neighbors asking you for protection once the local police/national guard are overwhelmed...
I think it would put us in a depression that would make the 30's look like a pot hole .. with the difference being we are not the country of our grandfathers who were able to pull themselves up and out of it.
That is why imo we need to do whatever to make sure the scenerio could never play out.
1st step is to spank Iran - now & hard.

Most of the terrorist nuclear threat is nothing more than fear mongering so our military contractors can make a bunch of money. I'd say at best they could build dirty bombs and launch a successful attack.

This is probably the truth, but you NEED to make sure that you do not base your defensive posture on any particular scenario simply because it is highly unlikely. Never underestimate the abilities of those that threaten you, its a good way to end up dead.

I know, but I try to take in as much information as is available from as many different sources as possible. Even the bad rotten propoganda can serve a useful purpose when intelligently fused with all the other relevant data. The full spectrum if you may.

This book is obviously cooked, but it is based on a remotely possible scenario. It is a good thing to imagine all the different possibilities of a non-state nuclear attack on our country, however unlikely, and to develope a retaliatory response.

My Mom's an immigrant. Granted, she married a serviceman to get here, but she's still an immigrant. Two of my Grandparents immigrated here from Ireland, and if you go back far enough, we're ALL the progeny of immigrants. Of course, they were all LEGAL immigrants and had a desire to naturalize themselves, I just want to make the distinction that immigrants aren't a problem per say, it's the illegal part that's the problem.

Assumig they're here legally, who cares what they do with the money they earn? As long as they come here legally and pay taxes like the rest of us, who the hell cares what they do with their money? It's their money.

Don't get me started on the issue of them hurting the economy by sucking up free services. I'm against those free services and see removing that as the way to fix that problem...

Judging from your lack of ability to actually debate a topic, with out trying to insult the person, I'm just going to have to take a wild guess and assume you are 15. That or you have the mentality of a 15 year old.

If you can find anything in my post that was cut and pasted beside the URL for the Davey Crockett (which I will assume you've probally never even heard of). Well, I'll give you two dollars so you can buy lunch at school on Monday.

Oh and I did a little "research" on the age of nuclear weapons we have here in the US. Sorry I didn't want to just pull a number out of my aruse, I figured it would be best to look that up being I knew they were pretty old but not exactly how old. Sorry I can't claim to know everything like yourself.

The number 10 came from a report. Now due to the fact that I managed to graduate high school and still remember something, I went ahead and rounded the number 19 up to 20 all by my self. Simply because I thought it looked a little better and I like even more than odd.

One thing I can ensure you, is that I managed to fully type out the four digits all by myself no cut and paste needed.

Now if you had a clue as to what this topic was about, you would know that anything North Korea has shipped in 1990 has pretty much no relevance on Nuclear Weapons. Simply because they didn't have nuclear capacity in 1990.

Your quote is like saying the US supplied Saddam with Nuclear weapons in the 1980's simply because we happened to start supplying Iraq with arms in the 80's.

The United States, France, China and the Soviet Union are the biggest arms dealers in the world. We make billions every year doing it, so I guess yea just can't blame North Korea for wanting to get in on the action.

Yes I understand that. There is no absolute way of saying they don't have seven nuclear bombs, I just find it highly doubtful. Simply because of the the reasoning that I posted about the age of the current nuclear stock pile that's left over from the cold war.

The US has to spend a hell of a lot of money every year just to make sure our weapons will still work. In reality being there is a ban on nuclear testing we can't even be 100% for sure that they will still work.

So when you look at the status of the Russian economy over the last 15 years. Well one could take a pretty good guess that their nuclear stockpiles aren't on the up and up.

I do believe they could have possibly gotten their hands on a nuke or two. After all the movie "Lord of War" was biased on a arms dealers whom was busted trying to sell a cold war era Russian submarine including the crew, to a drug dealer.

I mean hell if the guy came close to doing something like that, who could say they didn't sneak out any old warheads.

My argument is, mainly on the fact of the age and that the warheads that might not have been accounted for likely have not been kept in good shape. I'd guess at best they could be used for a dirty bomb.

Now of course if North Korea and Iran are able to continue down their paths, who knows what the tango's will be able to get their hands on in the future. Not to mention Pakistan whom is already a nuclear nation.

While Pakistan may not be a rogue nation it is in threat of turning into a more Radical Islamic state. Even that is years away for the point that the govt would erode enough that it might pose a nuclear danger to the US.

It's the entire reason I think Bush and co. were fools for pulling troops out of Afghanstan to go start some BS war in Iraq.
