Fear mongering and the Day of Islam

It's the entire reason I think Bush and co. were fools for pulling troops out of Afghanstan to go start some BS war in Iraq.

I would not have agreed with you on this point two years ago, but I am much closer to being in agreement with your opinion today.  My whole vision of the United States has changed over the past few years, I still love my country as if it were my own blood, but I am seriously worried about this nation and the harm we are doing to ourselves.

Also, would it serve Putins Russia to let a few tactical nuclear warheads slip into the hands of a group intent on using them against the United States?

If yes, and say it actually ocurred, that millions of Americans died as a result of an intentional passover of nuclear weaponry from Russia to a terror organization, what should Americas response be, if any?

What if the passing of nuclear weapons was not sanctioned by the soviet government, yet still ocurred as a result of some lower level government official going rogue?

What would Clancy do?

If a nuclear weapon were to be detonated in seven cities simultaneously, the backlash of American response worldwide would be horrific.  I sincerely doubt the country would fall into irrecovcerable chaos.  Instead, the mass confusion and other problems would be fixed. the entire US would for the first time believe we are in a war for survival.  Kid gloves would come off, and you would see massive military response against the radical Muslim world.

Imagine.  An American Military without kid glove restraint.  A US that would come together like World War II.

In reality, I think the Radical Muslims would be foolish to attack us like that.  If anything would force solidarity in this country, an attack of that magnitude would.

I don't think it would be in Putin's best interest nor do I think he would actually want it to happen. If for no other reason than it could be tracked back to them.

Which would bring down a harsh world backlash.

As far as Bush goes, I didn't like him from the start because as Gov he was responsible for the most death sentences in the history of Texas and on the same note he claimed to be heavily religious.

Regardless of that I gave him my support after 9/11 and up until he started making the case for war in Iraq.Once that happened, there was nothing left to support in regards to Bush.

Our country had world support after 9/11 even our enemies were behind us. We could have had a chance in that time frame to have so drastic positive changes world wide to stop terrorism and work with other countries, had Bush been a true leader.

Instead of leading he divided our nation and alienated our country from the rest of the world. When I look at Bush I see nothing more that a enemy of my country and what it stands for.

eagler... bodhi has it pretty much correct.. the kid gloves would be off..  in WWII American journalists witnessed some pretty brutal stuff by Americas army.. they didn't report it and... when they did... the people said "great.. they deserve it."

7 blue cities with massive casualties?    it would cause some economic problems but.... when have we ever had a depression we couldn't pull out of?  if we have one so does the world..  No big deal.

as for the cities... maybe it needs to happen.   maybe it will happen anyway.. many here see a rift that only armed insurection can cure in the U.S. between the blue and the red...  a bunch of vaporized blue cities would give em something to worry about other than nannying the rest of us.

It could work out ok.

The only  time I've heard anyone talk about a civil war between the blue and the red in regards to the US it was from a foreigner. So I dunno where the "many" people comes from.

In fact in regards to normal people, I never heard anyone talk about a sate much less a city as "red" or "blue" other than in reguards to the media during election time.

You should walk outside and step away from the internet every once and a while, reality is a whole lot diffrent out there.

Crocket,

Can you elaborate why Bush is responsible for death sentences in Texas without having held a position on the bench or as a prosecutor.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Because he was the one man whom could stop it or approve it. The acting Governor is the man whom signs off on the death sentence.

I read up on him quite a bit before the elections and while of course many of the people condemned to death deserved it. Many had mistakes in the trials and several had new evidence that had been found that should have granted them new trials or stays of execution.

Keep in mind I do not appose the death penalty, it is a needed asset in the tool chest. However I do appose the death penalty in any case where there is a shred of doubt.

Many of the cases that came across Bush's desk had more than reasonable doubt. I used to have a webpage bookmarked that reviewed all of the death sentences he signed off on. Many were reasonable and many were not.

Best I could find "with only little looking" was this article which reviews several of the questionable cases Bush signed off on.

You might want to try a dose of your own medicine.  There are many millions of proud Americans who are armed to the teeth and yearning to feel important in history.  All they need is a damned good excuse and the safety goes to off.

Sounds like there are a lot of real bored people out there in your neck of the woods if that's the case.

Maybe they should take up paint balling or something. :lol

Crockett, as Yeager said, there is a considerably large group of people who are very feverent about their beliefs as it regards to our Constitution and the Ammendments.  Frankly, I agree with Lazs, in that their are two sides that are on a collision path to open and armed conflict with regards to the way our rights are interpreted.

I will also go as far to say that the day anyone succeeds in passing a law that intends on doing away with private gun ownership in the US will be the day I will defend to the death against those that try to take my firearms.

Crocket,

The governor of a state is not going to open a new trial for a convict. All they can do is to trust in the professionalism of the numerous judges and appeals the convict had with all of the trials. Deciding justice isn't really their job.

While it's not unusual to be upset with bush you ought to at least just hold him responsible for his own acts and things he is directly responsible for.

I agree, and that's a big part of why I'm desparate to see RP in the White House.  He might be our last chance at peacefully restoring the Constitution.

Sounds like a great sci-fi read: Seven nuclear weapons detonating in seven American cities, hastening the end of western civilization.....

No talk about retaliation, who/what would you retaliate against?

Blatent fear mongering, maybe.
