We have term limits.

They're called "elections."

Very funny.

Don't you think congressional term limits would undermine the continued efforts of our elected reps to give us a choice between two distasteful candidates for POTUS?

and the article explains the flaw in our current system .. the good ole boy network - once in they buy their re-election through pork barrell spending paid for off the backs of us who pay our taxes.

term limits fixes the majority of what is wrong in DC today. Of course they will never vote for it and change the status quo...

Unfortunately I have to agree. I doubt term limits is the "cure". It may lessen some of the symptoms but the "machine" that each party uses funnels the candidates into the fore of the election process. Those that are not acceptable to the "machinery" would get little if any help from the party leaders. I think term limits would just intensify the workings of the political partys machines.

Demonicrats, LOL, thats a good one....
My favorite was always Dummycrats....
I use those terms all the time, because I know that REAL Democrats are fine upstanding loyal americans, just like the rest of us...
There was a time when the Democratic party, was the party with a SPINE...
That was before it was co;opted by Comintern activists...

Do any of you remember the Comintern???
It's still here, right under our noses...

"Term limits would have been good start, but the real problems which bring about the popularity of term limits can still be addressed.  To restrict and reduce the power of incumbency, we should address the sweeping powers which the federal government possesses. It's the power that congressmen yield that makes them so untouchable in the electoral process. Until we return to a constitutional size of government, limiting the special favors congressmen can give to friends and big-money interests, the system will continue to be unfairly weighted to politicians and bureaucrats. Only when we limit the size of the federal government, when we end the programs which allow for federal handouts, will we see our Congress returned to the citizen-legislature intended by the Founders of this nation."

Changing the way our .gov works couldn't be easier; dont reward failures & liars by voting for them again and again... vote 3rd party. Either the RNC & DNC haven't failed & lied enough yet, or the USA isn't big (smart) enough for more than 2 opinions.

Last election was prime example of why repubs & dems can't be trusted; the choice between a sociopath bush, or Al as interesting as a Fern Gore.. is like trying to pick up feces by the clean end. And just look at the result, the worst most hated US president yet.

Once the repubs & Dems start to lose seats to non party slaves, they might be motivated to actually do a better job... until then they can sit back and chuckle about their 25% approval rating while having their feet rubbed on a lobbyists jet.

You're right, marine. What I can't figure out is whether voter apathy is to blame or the voters don't actually think the choices were all that distasteful. The first is hard to fix but fixable, the second is another story.

yes, but remember, it's YOUR congressmen that brings all that federal money into YOUR state and YOUR district.

what about your road that needs fixed? what about that new bridge that you want? what about that fed grant to local business? what about the fed research grant for your local university?

you don't want him/her out of office do you?
