I love how people know EXACTLY where they get hit in a GV and also how many rounds of .50 cal or cannons that they got hit with when dogfighting.
I have been playing this game for over 5 years and I could never presume to know EXACTLY where I got hit in a GV (I have a general idea) or how many rounds I took in a dogfight ... bollocks I say.
When I die in a GV, I presume that they shot me in a weak point and thats that ... when I survive a round, I presume that they shot me in a strong point in the armour or at an angle that did not allow penetration of the round.
The GV damage model is not perfect, but it is the most complex "damage" model in all of AH. It was all explained by Pyro at a convention in Grapevine and all those that attended were really surprised by what it takes to determine the damage.
As far a ranging people ... if you spend enough time in a tank, you can get your first round on target without a problem. Go up against some of the LTARs or Whels in a GV ... you better get the first shot in, or its all over.
And speaking of T34s, I went H2H with one in a tiger, and he survived 5 of my shots bouncing off his front and turret armor.
With the amount of time it takes to reload a T34, and you were H2H with a Tiger, and all he got was 1 round on you ?
Either ...
he sucked
or
you were shooting at long distance
or
your embellishing.
