look it up

If you had looked it up by yourself, you could have found this information:

"Another improvement in the F6F-5 was the availability of more potent armament than the standard six .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine guns. Trials with cannon-armed Hellcats were not followed up by a production version, although the armament mix of a pair of Hispano 20 mm (0.79 in.) cannon carrying a minimum effective load of 220 rounds each, along with two pairs of .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine guns; each armed with 400 rounds was later used on many F6F-5N night fighters. All production F6F-5s had the ability to be fitted with the different armament configurations, but only F6F-5N night-fighters, equipped with radar, ever used the latter gun fit."

IIRC, other than the F6F-5N and the F6F-5P (photo recce version), regular front line F6F-5s had the standard .50 cals.  Though some units probably did do some field test with the 20mm gun package.

FYI- Just because the design specs said a plane could carry such and such guns, doesn't mean they were produced that way.  An example is the P-38D, which shows on the plane specs having a 30mm cannon when in fact it was never produced with said 30mm cannon.

Cut and paste from the wiki....

Trials with cannon-armed Hellcats were not followed up by a production version,

and later...

All production F6F-5s had the ability to be fitted with the different armament configurations, but only F6F-5N night-fighters, equipped with radar, ever used the latter gun fit

Since you're obviously slow, I'm posting this part of a previous reply I made.

You should work on your reading comprehension because that article also says:

Trials with cannon-armed Hellcats were not followed up by a production version

Actually my posting a few days ago (see above) quoted that very wiki article....

I NEVER fear a f6f in a ki84, unless I'm up higher.

However, the f6f shines with armor...and is irritating to kill.  It just can't seem to turn with my vs a ki.

now when I was in love with the f6f, it's because I was sick of my controls needing babysitting and possibly ripping off plane parts when diving to help fellow knights.

I also notice that the ammo doesn't seem to 'drop' as much during deflection shots vs a p51 or 47 etc...dunno why...as I have my conv set the same on all planes....400m.

It's a sweet plane, but it has weaknesses.  Keep it fast I say, and always have the E advantage and you'll have tons of ammo and fuel to spend in the air causing pain!

Oh, and it can carry some nice ord too. :)

What else can you ask for?  I guess a faster plane? :)

BTW - the ki84 and f6f stats wise, clearly shows that the only reason why they are patched in cost (15) is because the f6f has alot more ammo...but with this game nerfing 50cal, this plane SHOULD BE a 20 not a 15..

According to DoKGonZo http://www.gonzoville.com/ahcharts/index.php?p1=f6f5&p2=f4u1&p3=f4u1d&p4=f4u1c the F6F turns better than a F4U (no flaps) and only slightly worse with flaps, and it climbs better than an F4U up to 20K.  IMHO it also has better stall characteristics, making it easier to fly.

It's also a great JABO platform...

Standard armament on the F6F consisted of six .50 caliber (12.7 mm) Browning machine guns with 400 rounds each;

Trials with cannon-armed Hellcats were not followed up by a production version,

Where is the proof that the .50 cals are nerfed? 9 out of 10 times those that claim the .50 cal is nerfed are the ones that aren't hitting at the convergence point.  The other 1 is the guy that can't hit the side of a mountain.
