Was there 15 Spit 16s on its tail spraying?

If you say no, I dont believe it was a C47.

I do not have a picture, because I did not have a camera...

It also had invasion stripes...

What I`m curious about is the rest of the story. Did they drop 10 troops and take the picnic basket?

if u look closely on the c47 right be hind the cockpit, theres a dome. i dont have any idea why that would be there. maybe the aces high staff can turn it into a turret.

Dome: There for navigator to be able to navigate by the stars at night, and possibly even by day with sextant.  C47 was military version of DC-3 early passenger plane.  Probably also useful in checking for icing depending on the field of view.

OMG....Delta Lake.  Last time I was there was one hell of a party.   I'm trying to remember the names of the girls....but for the life of me I can't.  Ah the days at SUNYCOT.

Ahhhh....thanks for stirring up that great memory.

When I was there we only saw A-10's and B-52's in the air.   Noisey bastages.

Well if the topic is serendipitous encounters with warbirds here’s mine: I was driving back home onto base near sunset and was annoyed at getting stopped at a stoplight.  Then I heard something beautiful.  Wow, that sounds like a Merlin.*  Sure enough a Spit XIV flies right across the road directly in front of me at an altitude that was probably illegal.  He was even banking slightly towards me in a turn towards the runway.  He was heading for the base field for an air show that weekend.  A truly beautiful sight and so weird to see it while sitting in traffic.

The next morning I was mowing my lawn and suddenly a TBM flew over on its way to the same air show.  That was decidedly NOT a beautiful sound or beautiful airplane.  It sounded like a couple dozen angry lawn mowers all out of sync and what a big ugly thing it was.

*Yeah… OK, it’s a Griffin not a Merlin.

Any rain Saturday? Going for the Sunday show.
Yikes... 1:20am. Better get to bed for the early rise. Want to get there by 10am for the show.
