You guys watch that show?

I've seen bits of it a couple of times and today I watched one where he was in Iceland .

I got cold watching that show...and it was 85 degrees with 85% humidity outside today.

That guy is pretty hard core.  He ate the eye of a sheep, after dunking it in a boiling thermal pond to get rid of the bacteria, then he boiled up some of the sheep and chowed down.  The latter I could do easily, the former...no.

I think there is probably a helocopter on call to rescue him if necessary, but the guy still really does seem to go through the whole experience in each location.

He does do more than the competition show, survivorman. He definitely isn't into not eating for a week. He doesn't do the making fire by rubbing sticks together but the other stuff he does is more in tune with really getting through the situation.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I actually love that show.  Ive seen both Man vs. Wild and Survivorman.  The guy on survivorman is alone and films himself, but the show is primarily how he survives.

On Man vs. Wild though, he has a camera crew with him.  But the thing I like about this show is that he shows you different techniques on how to survive rather than just surviving himself.  I saw an episode before where he was in the arctic where there were huge crevices in the ice.  He then explained a technique where he took his parachute, made it into a rope, and tied knots in it every 1-2 feet.  He said that ideally if you fell into a crevice then your own body weight would cause a knot to catch on the ledge of ice and keep you from falling.  Then he said, "Theres only way to find out if this works" and he jumped in.  Definately something I don't see the guy on survivorman doing.

There are apparently lots of vitamins and other good stuff in eyeballs.

My personal preferred technique is to swallow the damn things whole...  Otherwise they go pop and the gooey center (which tastes a bit salty if I recall correctly) can trigger a gag reflex if you're not used to that sort of thing.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

The guy also drank his own urine in Australia. He sipped it like it was gatorade or something.

I also saw him eat a raw fish in the alps, bite the heads off of maggots and eat them, do the same thing with ants etc.

That eyeball thing was just plain gross. I'm not sure just how hungry I would have to be able to eat an eyeball.

What about the one when he drank the "water" from the elephant crap. I  almost had to run to the bathroom for that one.

Almost anytime I've held brains (especialy whole) in anatomy practicals, I've had a nearly mouth-watering impulse to take a bite.
Lightly fried and seasoned, I bet brains are a nice dish.

I like both Survivorman and M v. W.

Survivorman tends to give you a bit more towards the end after the isolation sets in. I'd like to see more episodes of both.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

I actually coked eyeballs the other day, but I don't like them.
(We eat charred sheep-heads, - no joke!)

Is this on youtube? Never heard of this show, but again, I'm not watching a lot of TV.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

yes the pooh water was pretty nasty and yet if the choice for me were die of thirst or drink elephant pooh water I'd be looking for the herd.

I don't watch those shows too much I may stop for a bit during a channel surf but that's about it.

when I was young, in the boy scouts we were taught that when going out into the wilderness to always have a bandana and a small bottle of household bleach. an eye dropper type bottle is what we used and it contained maybe three ounces of chlorine.  any water source then becomes potable water if you collect the water with your hat, filter it through the bandana and deposit five drops of the chlorine bleach into your container.

when I watched the elephant pooh episode the guy walked past a perfectly good puddle and went on to drink elephant pooh water.  maybe he didn't know the bandana and chlorine concept but I kind of doubt it.  drinking elephant pooh water causes what we have here, free advertising and more potential viewers.

having a survival kit in your vehicle is advisible if you live out in the hinterlands, of course if you live in the hinterlands then I'm preaching to the choir.

On the Iceland episode he also just ate enough of the sheep meat to fill up his stomach.  The next night he was laying traps for small birds.  All he had to do was boil up enough sheep meat for two nights and carry some with him.

Definately some "televisioning" going on.
