I actually love that show. Ive seen both Man vs. Wild and Survivorman. The guy on survivorman is alone and films himself, but the show is primarily how he survives.
On Man vs. Wild though, he has a camera crew with him. But the thing I like about this show is that he shows you different techniques on how to survive rather than just surviving himself. I saw an episode before where he was in the arctic where there were huge crevices in the ice. He then explained a technique where he took his parachute, made it into a rope, and tied knots in it every 1-2 feet. He said that ideally if you fell into a crevice then your own body weight would cause a knot to catch on the ledge of ice and keep you from falling. Then he said, "Theres only way to find out if this works" and he jumped in. Definately something I don't see the guy on survivorman doing.
