Problem With "Make Map"
« on: July 18, 2007, 03:50:49 PM »
When I make a map in the TE, it does something odd to the land squares. Where they overlap into other squares, it cuts the overlaps off and then places them in a different square. Anybody know what causes this or how to fix it?

Save your map before using the "create map" function. After you make the map, close the TE and open it again. Create Map simply creates a bitmap file of your terrain.

It's doing it on the bitmap image, not the terrain. I save the terrain, and open it again, and it still does it. I'll post the images here.

No, this isn't the entire bitmap image, but this is what it is doing to the maps. This one is zoomed in to show detail.

Hi

I had same problem with 8mile * 8mile CB map.

The left side shows the actual 'Make map' result and right side shows edited version.
Manual fixing didn't took too much time, thanks for very small map size.

I have Microsoft Picture It vs. 7.0, and Microsoft Paint. That's the only two programs I have that I can view it in. Will it work as a jpeg image? According to Denholm's tutorial, it has to be 256 color bitmap...

I have never gotten .jpg or .jpeg files to work.

It's doing this straight out of the TE, changing the file type doesn't do anything.

Ask XJazz for detailed information on how he edited his bitmap image exported from the TE. That will be sure to help you fix your issue.

Well, I was thinking about making a large map, and it seems that editing a large map would take forever, but I'll ask him. It's better than nothing.

Edit: By the way, some other people may have the problem, so it would be better to post the info here, instead of by PMing.

Well, usually asking someone refers to PMing, but I can see now my mistake.

This issue appears anywhere there are coastlines for some reason. You can notice while you're working by placing a square of grass (or any land) over a water square. There aren't any coastlines on it. When you save and re-open, they're suddenly there. I have a feeling these are related.
