Stupid thread.

I've had "the Court of the Crimson King" stuck in my head all day now.

(granted, it's better than "Elephant Talk" but still...)

I had the opportunity to see/hear Doyle Bramhall while on tour with ROger Waters in 2000.   I wasn't impressed with him, because he was smiling as he ruined a few solos.

Bramhall plays a right handed guitar strung right handed while holding it left handed (low E on the bottom).  This results in a unique sound that isn't conducive to "recreations" of the original recorded performances.

There are numerous studio quality guitarists that can faithfully imitate any lead.    Waters choice of Bramhall indicates he wasn't overly concerned with "playing the album". Musicians will play leads several times in the studio, then pick a jam to go on the album. When it's time to go on tour most are quite irritated with the fact that they have to "learn" their OWN leads, but that's what the fans want.

Sorry for going off topic but the term "ruined" made me smile and reminded me of this persistent diversion between artists and appreciators. Artists want to interpret works, fans want them recreated.

He ruined the solo's by  incorrectly playing period.   When you hit the wrong fret/string on an electric guitar, you cannot hide it.    Twice Roger Water's looked at him, and Roger wasn't smiling.

Jimi used a right-handed guitar but he restrung it so the low E string was in the standard position, at the top.

Albert King ...  played a right handed flying V  lefty but doesnt invert the strings .

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_King

King died on December 21, 1992 from a heart attack in Memphis, Tennessee, but he played till the very end. Guitarist Joe Walsh spoke at his funeral, saying "Albert King could blow Eddie Van Halen away with his amp on stand-by."
