Yes, funny how that is true almost everywhere. No matter where you go ... home is best. :) I think we're somehow wired that way.

Unless you can take your home with you. :p

i keep adding as i go along so here another fun fact.

anywhere in isreal whenever you here an aircraft its about 99.9% sure to be of the air force.  besides in downtown tel aviv that is, i believe we only have 3-4 small civilian airports with very few a/c and even fewer helos in the whole country and about 8-9 iaf bases scattered throughout the country. we also get sonic booms quite often just heard one about an hour ago, and sometimes when you look up at night you can spot a fighter at 40k just be looking for moving lights or glimpsing an afterburner. whatever the effect anywhere in israel you tend to hear alot of fighter a//c traffic above and it can be very loud if you live within 10 miles of and iaf base:)

Thanks for the pictures Evenhaim. I know it's odd, but although I spend much of my life commenting on the geography and history of Israel - for instance, I'm currently preaching through Ruth in the mornings and Deuteronomy (or more correctly elleh haddebarim) in the evenings, I've never actually been to modern Israel. Many of my friends have and have been struck by the natural beauty of the place - if only the slogan on the bus wasn't being put to the test on such a consistent basis, I'm sure it would be a more enticing tourist location.

Anyway, thanks for sharing and not getting PNGed.
