Long standing Fw190a8 ditch bug
« on: July 27, 2007, 09:26:33 AM »
This has been in effect since the 190s were redone oh-so-long-ago. It used to affect the A-5, but that was fixed a long time back.

If you belly land the 190A-5, even if you are safely down and alive, you will explode and die between 5 and 8 seconds after coming to a rest.

It happened to me last night after I ditched, as it has happened every time I belly land or ditch. That just reminded me that I wanted to re-post this bug report, to see if we can't get it resolved.

I recall posting this bug way back when the 190s were redone, also. The A-5 got fixed, the A-8 seems to remain buggy. I don't fly the D or F at all, so I can't testify to them (never heard reports of it, though)

A8's not the only one.  It's happened to me in other planes too but I can't remember which at the moment.

I thought it was just some type of built-in penalty for not landing gear down.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

It's a bug. It used to rock violently on the A-5 (right after the 190s were redone) and then explode. It did the same in the A-8, but without the violent rocking motion. They fixed the A-5, but not the A-8.

Just gives more reason to land w/gear. If you to not have gear...then...well...that sucks.

I know I've done it before landing with the tail intact, and still blowing up, but just now I was only able to replicate it repeatedly when crashing and losing the tail. I pranged it on the tail to recreate, once I realized that. I got it online and offline, but the offline film is 14MB. WTH?? Not sure why, it's just about 10 minutes long. Maybe it's because I did it on Italy (the map) instead of something normal. The online file was done in the TA just now.

offline (zipped 4MB):

online (zipped 200kb):

HTC please review the films. Online is a shorter download (I knew what to do by the time I tested it online). Please see what bug is causing the plane to blow up when otherwise safely down.

Same happened to me in a Lancaster. I made it home safe with one engine dead and fuel leak. I landed and safely, and checked everything else, all was fine. Then Boom! Im in the tower

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

I had that happen to me in several different planes. Ditching with only gear damage, and between 5 seconds and 1 minute later - BOOM. Without having any additional damage other than "engine" (resulting from the belly landing).
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce that bug offline.

Another thing I forgot to mention:

AH190A-8 bug: Outboard 30mms still fire.

When you snap a wing of (all the way off) the outboard 30mm still fires. It drains ammo and eventually stops firing when it runs out. I discovered this when doing my crash landing tests (it's in the films posted above). I didn't take the time to test the MG151/20s, but the Mk108s do this.

Last night I hit an all-but-invisible hill while landing by a V-field and lost both wings but NOT the tail. I still blew up after 6 seconds.

So that's confirmation that the tail being attached doesn't mean you're safe.

If you guys would learn not to light a smoke just after you belly land a plane that is clearly smelling of leaking fuel you would have no problems ;)

*puff puff* BOOM! ---> tower
