Just to give you an idea

Muzzle 2898

400 yds 2306

800 yds 1790

and that's with the HEIAP 665g; the heavier ball probably slows down faster.

I believe the heavier ball would slow down slower... ie... carry better...

Shape matter too.  I believe the 50 were faster, but I could be wrong.

Also, that's just the exit-the-barrel speed. It slows down AFTER that point due to the density of the air its passing through.

EDIT: 800 yds is about 2400 feet. If the muzzel velocity is 2800-2900 (and I'm just quoting you here) it wouldn't be exactly one second it would be 0.85 seconds or so.

The one second takes into account the drop in bullet speed. Yes, 800 yards is 2400 feet. A .50 BMG is still doing over 2400 fps at 300 yards. The bullet slows down after exiting the barrell, the end result is that it's almost exactly 1 second at 800 yards for the real thing.

Great, now what weapon is it fired from?
An AC HMG or say a closed bolt single shot sniper rifle?
What about wind hitting the muzzle at 300mph.
Also add in your target is traveling at over a football field a second.

Time of flight for an 800 yd target  moving at say 300 mph would be what?

:huh

I only have the real world data for German ammo, but a 13mm round (if someone wants to know the exact type of round: Pzgr.Patr L'Spur el o.Zerl) needs 1.967 seconds to travel to 800m (879yds), a 20mm MG 151 round (M-Geschoss) 2 seconds.

So you observation of about 2 seconds does not look like a bug to me. :)

All of this is irrelevent. The initial scenario was a stationary target with a stationary firing platform. If those numbers aren't correct, then none of the other numbers will be correct either. His numbers showed 0.985 seconds at 800 yards, basically verifying my "almost exactly one second" statement at 800 yards. Unfortunatly, timing this offline is a bit tricky. It still looks slow to me. I'm having a more difficult time finding numbers for the tanks used in this game, as they could be timed easier at longer distances.
