Lemme start at the bottom. My least favorite three:

Daylight savings time
Alarm clocks
Income tax
Here we put salt on Margaritas, not sidewalks.

In the spirit of something being convenient rather than essential, there's surley one clear winner .... the TV remote!  

and Air Conditioning
and Mobile (Cell) Phones


I reckon the toothbrush is one of the greatest inventions of all time though.
