A friend of mine was glad to find out that AH is running well enough on his laptop. Being he's a college student, I wanted to give the guy a USB joystick to start with.

Was bummed to see that the Thrustmaster Afterburner II is (apparently) discontinued. I can't find it anywhere online, including E-bay.

Anyone know if this Saitek Aviator will last a year or so? Does it feel flimsy?

I'd get a Microsoft Precision Pro at E-bay, but I don't want to give the guy a used stick with problems.

Any other suggestions based on experience are appreciated. Thanks, guys!

The Logitec 3D Pro is not to bad for 33$ at the local Gamestop.when you have a budget and the only other choice is a Saitek? it's not too bad of a deal.

I don't mind spending more. The Afterburner II would've cost me about $80, if it had been available. I just won't go out and spend another $400 on CH gear. lol.

Any other suggestions are appreciated.

DO NOT buy a logitech 3D (or any logitech stick for that matter). They are Crap.

They will start spiking inside of a couple of weeks. I had 3 of them before I finally gave up on them.

Best bang for your buck is still the Saitek EVO. It is a twisty stick, has a hat switch and enough buttons to map most of the other functions you need.

Should be able to pick up a new one for $30 -$40.

Trust me, Logitech will give you nothing but a heart-ache.

Yeah, I had good luck with that stick as well. For the price you can't go wrong.

I have had mine for well over a year and nothing is wrong with it at all.Maybe it's the way different people treat it??I have talked with other players who have one and they have had no probs either.

Just seems wierd.

Yep thats the one TBolt. Not sure why they have it listed as used for $94 though.

It's a $35.00 stick at any wally world.

Much better than the logitech IMHO.

I bought the Saitek Evo Force Feedback back in December because you can't find the one thats not a force feedback anymore, or atleast back in December you couldn't, it's a good stick and I like it, only problem is I have to constantly calibrate it, if I use the rudder twist alot during a sortie I usually have to re-calibrate it before I launch on the next sortie, I don't know if it's just a problem with mine, or if there all like this. Other then that it's a good stick with alot of buttons on it.

I was just able to buy the stick - without force feedback - via saitek.com. They run their online store through Yahoo. $37, including shipping UPS Ground.

Yeah like I said back in December I couldn't find it anywhere, the Saitek website didn't even have them. Hopefully the one you got wont have the same problem that mine has.
