I just can't get over how much Vladik Putin loves to make people nervous. My only question is whether they'll be Bears or Blackjacks. Personally, I'm holding out for the jets. They'll look way neater getting escorted back into international airspace.

Unfortunately there are no F-14's to escort them back into international airspace, and personaly I like the bears.

I wonder if it's time to dust off some of the SR71's and start them patroling the Rusian areas. I'm sure putin would look upon it with "understanding".

We might also want to look at bringing back the Phoenix missile system and a platform to launch it.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

GreenPeace officials already said that "Noise from Russian military planes will endanger unique Arctic fauna". Morons. Where have they been when we had an airfield at North Pole with several flights every day.

The key to all this resurrection is a personality of a new defense minister. He's a former taxman, so now money goes on combat training instead of being stolen. They already have several generals and admirals under investigation...

Looks like a successful mock attack on Guam they decided that it's fun and we can do it on regular schedule.

Neubob, did you see "Sluchay v kvadrate 36-80" ("Incident at Map-Grid 36-80")? Great footage, Tu-16 emergency landing is awesome :)

If you didn't see it - I'll put it on the Web for you. It's one of the best Soviet propaganda movies, all-time classics, made in 1982, but not as popular as films about airborne troops with Boris Galkin.

The bear is flexing its muscles.
Do not attribute to malice what can be easily explained by incompetence, fear, ignorance or stupidity, because there are millions more garden variety idiots walking around in the world than there are blackhearted Machiavellis.

Nope. Never saw it. I'd like to though....

On a related note, what do you think of the idea of SR-71 flights into Russian Airspace? Think they'd survive?
