American planes don't make enough noise to make GreenPeace worry about poor scared seals. :D

BTW first time USSR landed heavy bombers at the North Pole in 1937, to set up a first drifting station SP-1.

In early 90s Russians set up an airfield at the North Pole for "extreme skydiving". In late-90s we even had nuclear icebreakers carrying rich tourists to the N Pole, so now I am glad we switch to the things that are more fun :)

Don't make enough noise?

Ask the indiginous people of Labrador about noise.

I was sarcastic again. Everyone knows (tm) that Concordes or Tupolevs are much noisier then American planes :D

BTW I have heard a 707 taking off, it roars compared to Soviet planes. Tu-95 makes only a little humming at the altitude where I can still identify it.  Have seen enough of them when hiking in Lovozero tundras in 1991.

707's haven't been in use in the U.S. in like 30 years except for the KC-135's. They are mostly regulated to 3rd world countries, oh and Russia... :D

Sorry, the one I saw (and heard) in Sydney was from Australian Air Force.

I think it was a cargo version, that surprised me - i thought the airframe is only used in 135s (RC and KC) and E-3s now. Unfortunately I saw it at night and was unable to take any pictures.

The 135's are just about entirely reengined with turbofans now. Pretty quiet.

RAAF 707's are tankers, and used occasionally for transport. They used to be VIP aircraft but were replaced by 737-BBJ's, and shortly the 707's will replaced by A330 (KC-30B) MRTT's

The key to all this resurrection is a personality of a new defense minister. He's a former taxman, so now money goes on combat training instead of being stolen. They already have several generals and admirals under investigation...

Looks like a successful mock attack on Guam they decided that it's fun and we can do it on regular schedule.

lol, GreenPeace is stupid!

They just called it extreme skydiving when the chute failed on the ejection seat..........
